The Purple Prickly Pear (Opuntia macrocentra) is a ground-hugging to nearly upright branched shrubs 60-120 cm tall, up to 3 m wide, usually 4-10 joints high; rarely with distinct trunks. The red-tinged succulent pads and very long spines (macrocentra means long spine) easily distinguish it from the many other species of prickly pear. The purple tinge is greatest around the areoles and on the edges, although the entire plant may be purple in winter.

Origin and Habitat: The species occurs in West Texas (El Paso Co. E through Hudspeth, Culberson, and Reeves counties, NE Brewster Co. E of Alpine and adjacent Pecos Co.) New Mexico, Arizona and Mexico (NE Chihuahua, NE Sonora, Coahuila, and Durango). The species is abundant throughout its range. It can also be found as an ornamental plant outside of its native range.

Opuntia macrocentra grows on various soil types in xerophyllous scrub and desert grasslands prevalent in the sandy lowlands, but also in the mountains and intermediate rocky slopes and along arroyos. A potential threat to species of the genus Opuntia is the invasion of the cactus moth Cactoblastis cactorum, which can exterminate populations completely.

PLANT DESCRIPTION:
Astrophytum asterias is a small thorn less cactus and produces beautiful yellow flowers. With basic care it can be enjoyed for many years, because it is drought tolerant and only needs sun and fertilizer to be happy.

This is a relatively easy-to-grow species. It needs a mineral, well-drained soil with little organic matter. Re-pot every 2 years, using containers with good drainage. During spring and summer use a low nitrogen content fertilizer to make it grow faster; potassium is helpful for the plant health. Water sparingly from March till October, letting the soil getting dry before watering again. To avoid root rot, keep it dry from the beginning of autumn to the end of winter. It is hardy to -7°C, but during cold months keep it in a cool place. It does well from full sun to light shade – in this case, its colour will get richer and darker.

Astrophytum asterias nudum is distincted by a glabrous stem: it doesn’t present white tufts of loose hairy scales characteristic of the common Astrophytum asterias; however, felty areoles are noticeable on the smooth, green surface og the plant. Agave filifera (Thread Leaf Agave) is a species of flowering plant in the family Asparagaceae, native to Central Mexico from Querétaro to Mexico State. It is a small or medium-sized succulent plant that forms stemless rosette up to 3 feet (90 cm) across and up to 2 feet (60 cm) tall. The leaves are dark green to a bronzish-green in colour and have very ornamental white bud imprints. The flower stalk is up to 11.5 feet (3,5 m) tall and is densely loaded with yellowish-green to dark purple flowers up to 2 inches (5 cm) long. Flowers appear in autumn and winter.

This evergreen succulent perennial requires heated indoor culture during winter in temperate regions, though it may be placed outside during summer months. It has gained the Royal Horticultural Society's Award of Garden Merit. In general, Agave do not need to be re-potted every year. Most of the species commonly found in cultivation grow very slowly and will take a long time to outgrow their pot. It is also best to handle the Agave as little as possible, since they do not like to be disturbed.

Aloe dorotheae Crimson (Sunset Aloe) plant acclimatised to Bahawalpur weather for sale.

PLANT DESCRIPTION:
Aloe dorotheae Crimson is a smaller clumping aloe, growing to just over a foot tall. Succulent leaves change from lime green to bright orange-red with white spotting. In mid to late winter, a slender flower spike rises above the foliage with dark flower buds that open to reveal greenish-yellow petals. Excellent for massing in water-wise garden beds. Great accent or small container specimen.

Aloe dorotheae (Sunset Aloe) A nicely colored low growing aloe that suckers to form clumps of rosettes to 20 inches wide on short stems to 10 inches that lay flat to the ground. The stiff shiny leaves that are colored greenish-yellow to bright orange-red often with some white spotting when young and stiff spines along the margins.

Aloe dorotheae is classified as Critically Endangered by the IUCN based on its extremely limited distribution, which overlaps with a heavily populated district. It is likely being collected for medicinal purposes.

Origin and Habitat: The species has a very restricted distribution in the wild, limited to only two localities consisting of rocky outcrops in the Eastern Arc Mountains of Tanzania, but is common and popular as an ornamental in cultivation. It requires well-drained soil, some exposure to sun, and it prefers a summer-rainfall watering regime.

It is one of 16 aloe species which are endemic to Tanzania, and one of a further 26 Aloe species which are indigenous (but not endemic) to that country.

Sansevieria masoniana Whale Fin is one of the easiest to care for indoor plants is that of the Sansevieria, a semi-succulent plant known for its striking leaves. Well, one of the most unique varieties of the ‘snake plant’ as it is so often called, is that of the Sansevieria masoniana, which is also referred to as the Whale Fin plant. The plant is nicknamed ‘whale fin’ on account of its unique shape. Barleria repens (Small Bush Violet Plant) plant acclimatised to Bahawalpur weather for sale.

Barleria repens is a small bush violet produces masses of pretty tubular flowers and will happily scramble up into surrounding vegetation if conditions are good.

It usually forms a rounded to spreading bushy shrub, 0.7 m high by 1 m wide, but sometimes also climbs/leans into nearby trees and shrubs (up to 2 m!). New branches tend to root as they touch ground, so this plant can quickly increase its territory if not kept under surveillance! Evergreen, it has soft, shiny, dark green leaves. Flowers are fairly large, and are a deep purple-mauve or pink-red, appearing from late summer to autumn (February to April). The fruit is an explosive, club-shaped capsule, forming in autumn (March to May).

Origin and Habitat: It occurs in woodland and forest, from KwaZulu-Natal northwards to tropical Africa. There are 60 species of Barleria in South Africa. Most are bushy shrubs, some with a tendency to scramble, such as B. obtusa, which is often cultivated. B. greenii and several others show merit as garden plants too.
