As a brand with heritage, which dates back to 1936, the history, knowledge, and traditions are embedded in Królik’s DNA and savoir-faire.
We use multiple traditional methods to shape tiles with deep relief patterns and textured surfaces. Hand moulding involves pressing clay into a plaster mould. Press moulding involves lowering a wooden press onto a block of the clay to imprint the shape.
Slip casting - The Kaflarnia Karny team are specialists in slip casting: a traditional process for crafting ceramics tiles with a raised relief, or three-dimensional, design. A liquid clay slip with the consistency of cream is carefully poured into hand-carved gypsum moulds. The tiles are then dried for a period of several days to several weeks, depending on size, before bisque firing.
Richly-coloured glazes, applied by hand
Królik offers a wide range of deep colours and tones, carefully selected to meet the needs of all contemporary interiors. Glaze is a base in the form of powdered glass, with oxides to give it the desired colour.
Hand-applied glazes - our glazes are applied by hand, using the spray method. It takes many years of experience to become proficient at applying glazes and ensure an even application of colour with no run-off.
Double firing - Kiln for firing ceramics. Our tiles are meticulously prepared for firing. The molds are crafted with such precision that the tiles retain their perfect shape after firing. They never deform, consistently meeting the highest standards of quality.
Hand finishing - after bisque firing, Królik’s bas-relief sculptures, pocket vases, sconces, and art tiles can be hand-painted to order. Our skilled artisans apply intricate detailing with richly pigmented glazes, or liquid 24 karat gold, before the pieces are returned to the kiln for a final firing.
