Mi nombre es Jennifer Maldonado, nativa de Puerto Rico, bohemia de corazón y con alma ochentosa. Además soy artista de acuarela autodidacta, diseñadora de patrones y creativa de nacimiento. Vengo de una familia de creativos, mi papá es músico, mi mamá y abuela son diseñadoras de moda y las mejores en la cocina. Mientras crecí, me fueron enseñando distintas maneras de expresar mi creatividad. Cuand
o tuve la mayoría de edad descubrí mi propio camino creativo y — SPOILER ALERT: no fue la música, no se tocar una nota ni para salvar mi propia vida. La actividad creativa que más amaba era hacer “doodles” en las libretas y colorear, mi cuarto estaba lleno de marcadores y crayolas. Debo decir que era una experta en no salirme de las líneas.

2003
Desde niña tuve mucha curiosidad por el mundo natural y el sistema solar, por lo que cuando me tocó escoger una carrera escogí Ciencias Naturales. Es por esto que mis pinturas son inspiradas en la naturaleza, las plantas y las fases de la luna.
2009
Desde el 2009 hasta el 2015, escogí el camino de diseñadora de joyería. Mis diseños estaban en Boutiques Locales y Merodea.
2010
Hice una segunda carrera en Educación, lo cual me ha abierto el camino para impartir los talleres y cursos de arte que ofrezco hoy dia.
2013
En el 2013 abrí mi propia tienda online, cuando aún el comercio electrónico no era lo que es hoy día. Es seguro decir que siempre he sido una visionaria y una mujer emprendedora. FEBRERO 2016
Comencé a pintar con acuarelas, como método de expresión y sanación. Había tenido un parto prematuro a los 6 meses de embarazo y mi hijo Aiden se convirtió en un angel. Su corta vida en la tierra estuvo llena de propósitos, pues me enseñó más de la vida y del amor que todos los años que llevo en esta tierra. El comenzar a pintar me trajo de nuevo a la vida, en todo el sentido literal. ABRIL 2016
Tuve como misión de vida a través de The Artsy Boho, el compartir mis conocimientos en acuarela, y hacerte ver que sí eres totalmente capaz de crear artes hermosos con tus propias manos. ABRIL 2021

Una foto hermosa para una noticia no tan hermosa…
Llevo meses de mucho pensamiento y reflexión acerca de lo que significa The Artsy Boho para mi. Para mi este espacio siempre fue un lugar de expresión y educación a través del arte. Donde compartía mis conocimientos y experiencias con las acuarelas en tiempo real, esto antes de que Instagram se convirtiera en lo que es hoy (estrategia, estrategia, estrategia).
Y como vi que si no tenía una estrategia, mi cuenta no tendría interacción, ni coherencia lo cual lastimaría aspectos de ventas y negocio. Pues simplemente dejé de postear y ser consistente porque me abrumaba el tener que tratar de darle un orden y sentido lógico a un proceso que es orgánico y natural.
Entonces entraba en el ¿que hago? Sigo los consejos de los expertos en redes, contenido y ventas o sigo mi intuición. Ya se imaginarán que seguí mi intuición, y esto me lleva a cerrar The Artsy Boho, ¿y sabes porque? Porque quiero que este siga siendo mi espacio de distraerme, de relajarme, de sanar. Si posteo es porque así lo quiero y así lo siento, sin importar ventas (pues ya no venderé nada), sin importar la estrategia, si hace sentido o no, esta es mi cuenta y hago lo que quiera en ella. Decidí normalizar que a veces no hay que tenerlo todo estructurado y programado, a veces hay que salir de la caja, ser feliz con lo que uno hace y al que de verdad le gusta el contenido se quedará o llegará. Creo que Bad Bunny no es nada convencional y miren lo lejos que ha llegado, rompiendo todos los esquemas.

Como cuando Max 🐾 quiere asegurarse que los pinceles estén bien húmedos para activar las acuarelas 🎨 Excelente servicio 😂

Lo mas que amo de las acuarelas es que no importa el tiempo que lleven, con solo mojarlas las mismas activan y funcionan de show como el primer día. Esto significa que se aprovecha la pintura hasta lo último, que literal dura casi una vida. Otros 20 es que uno quiera comprar para probar pinturas nuevas 🙈 Es inevitable 🤷🏻♀️ soy culpable full 🙋🏻♀️de eso.

Before we get to the good art stuff, I want to tell you a bit about myself first, so here’s my story.
I’m a Puerto Rico Native, self-taught watercolor artist, creative by birth who loves to learn. I'm also a beach, coffee and music lover + a Bohemian at heart with a vintage - 80’s soul. I was born in a family of creatives, my father is a musician, my mother is a sewing genius and my grandmother, the one who started this creative family is the ultimate DIYer, crochet guru, fashion designer, among many other creative hats, oh and she cooks delicious. Since I was a little girl I learned many creative skills that I gather from all of them, I explored the ones that reasoned with me and put them into practice — HINT: it wasn’t music, I can’t play an instrument even to save my life [insert laugh]. The one creative activity I loved the most was coloring, and by that I mean painting with crayons and markers in a coloring book with the occasional doodling on the white space of the pages. I gotta say, I was the best at staying inside the lines.
In 2003 I had to choose a career path, I always felt I deep connection with nature and a curiosity for the solar system, so I decided to study Natural Science and I became a Biologist which I love. My paintings are inspired by nature, plants and its connection to the moon cycles, having studied Biology inspires me and makes more easy my painting process, because of my understanding of the natural world which is my main painting subject. In 2010 I made a Master’s Degree in Education, which helps me impart the art workshops and courses I teach today.
In 2016 I fell in love again with my old love, painting, I had lost my first and only baby due to premature birth in February 1st 2016. Watercolor painting became a very crucial part in my healing journey. I was able to express myself in an easier way. Aiden, my baby boy is the reason I am here talking to you about art. His short but very meaningful life taught me more about life & love than all the years I’ve been on this earth. And if you did the math, yes I’ve been painting with watercolors for 4+ years, and I want to share the knowledge I’ve been gathering all these years with you.
