Before VILAMATERIA workshops existed, there was already learning through building.
Part of the timber structure of our atelier was built together with Erasmus+ trainees during professional internships carried out in a real construction context.
Not in a classroom.
Not in simulation.
But through hands-on work, shared responsibility and collective building.
These experiences helped shape what VILAMATERIA is today:
a place where craftsmanship is learned through practice, collaboration and direct contact with material, tools and construction.
Some of the signatures remain hidden in the structure.
A reminder that buildings also carry memory.

Timber framing was never only about construction.

Entire communities gathered around the raising of a structure — craftsmen, families, neighbours and apprentices working together to shape spaces that would outlive generations.
These buildings carried not only technical skill, but memory, culture and shared labour.
Today, traditional building still reminds us that making something by hand can also mean building connection:
between people, materials and place.
