Glowing from what feels like a star of the week nod from in the ‘These Correct Grey socks are, well, the correct grey’.

When I reimagined colour palette the old grey just didn’t cut it. I trawled through dozens of shade charts until I found exactly THE one . ‘You have to have the correct grey’ I insisted. Alice laughed and suggested it was a great name for a sock and so Correct Grey was born. I don’t think either of us imagined it would be headline news.

Visual treats aplenty today with breakfast to see their new space in Dalston and then on to have a good look at the seasonal refresh Today was unexpectedly THE day for perusing as a load of new had just hit the floor which had yet to make it onto her website 😋 Made my office for a couple of hours and was pleased to see their extremely good taste in choosing the signature ceramic collection for my cup of tea. We’ve just bought lots of it so the home from home vibes were strong. Shame the same can’t be said of my wardrobe groaning with spangly new Phoebe Philo. Finally, a side quest to look .officiel and confirming for all interested parties that Mie in Tofu is the one.

An hour’s walk to the local shop is my preferred definition of remote.
Half term in the Highlands, snow most days and no real plans beyond lunch which has become something of a tradition.
The rest: books, cards, an enormous jigsaw and walking for hours with everyday ending by the fire. No pine trees or deer in London - back home sulking.

Bleak weather and a day of research led me back to this image I styled for in the kitchen of her London home.
It made me smile remembering knocking on the door of a wonderful older woman near where we live to ask if she’d mind me taking a small branch from her mulberry tree. Twenty minutes of chatting later she emerged with loppers and a ladder. Up I went. She was a delight.

I don’t usually comment on the shows (I’m no fashion commentator or journalist) but something about the Chanel couture casting yesterday has really stayed with me. Seeing women of so many ages, from so many countries, genuinely moved me and I’ve been thinking about why. It just felt confident. Minimal makeup, real skin, real faces. Yes, they were all one body shape (fashion does seem to have backtracked on body diversity over the past couple of years), but I’m focusing on what was there and there was a lot.

It took me back to being a 12 year old, pawing over Vogue, lost in the clothes and all that beauty. Watching now as a woman in her late forties it felt like recognition rather than nostalgia and just as importantly, an invitation. Something a younger woman could look at and think: I want to grow into that.

I saw this image last Sunday from .moralioglu and Philip Joseph’s home and I’ve been thinking about it all week. In the tsunami of beige interiors drowning Instagram it felt so fresh and timeless. I think I’ve thought of those green chairs everyday since. I’ve just read the full article and discovered that they are by Charles Pfister for Knoll in 1971. So far so cool but the real clincher is the fabric they are covered in is snooker table green from Hainsworth wool mill in (my birthplace) West Yorkshire. Interiors for me need to have something a bit ‘wrong’ in them to be really, really good. A textbook example in my opinion.

Inhaling all the beauty I could get my hands on today (except no touching the ceramics) for the launch of 50 new fabrics. All beautiful. Obvs.
to see if it’s worth dropping over 1K on a navy cashmere V neck - I’m thinking I could make a strong case for it.
an outdoor table under a canopy with a heater is to be recommended for meetings and offers excellent people watching.
to see ‘Hyakkō’ 100+ makers from Japan - A no notes situation and an exhibition I intend to return to frequently over the coming months. Go.
