part of the 120 Series (1956-1970), was a significant model, introducing styling and practicality with its distinctive two-piece tailgate, solidifying Volvo’s reputation as a leader in safe, reliable family estates. Introduced in 1962, it offered durability with updated engines like the B18 and B20, advanced features for its time (front disc brakes, overdrive), and became popular globally, though production ended in 1969 for the wagon, a year before the last Amazon saloon.

📷 TREASURE OF THE DAY 🎄 Christmas Red 🟥 The legendary Porsche 911 Targa 🇩🇪

The 1967/69 Porsche 911 Targa was the introduction of the “Targa” concept, with a stainless steel protection bar and a removable canvas roof, plus a plastic rear window “soft window” (in 67/68) that was later replaced by fixed glass, offering an “open sky” option for safety reasons in the USA, making it a rare and sought-after classic, especially the “soft window” versions.

Main Features:

Name Origin: “Targa” was a Porsche response to California’s safety concerns for convertible cars, with the fixed bar offering protection in case of rollover.

First Models (Soft Window): The Targas of 1967 and 1968 (and part of 69) had a plastic rear window (PVC) that could be opened with a zipper, being a point of distinction and rarity.

Iconic Design: Characterised by the stainless steel bar, which was aesthetically appealing and functional, and the removable ceiling panel.

Versions: In 1968, the designation 911 L (Luxus) was used for the previous model, while the 911 T (Touring) emerged as the new entry model.

In summary, the 1967/68 911 Targa marked the beginning of one of the most iconic formats of the 911, combining the emotion of a convertible with the safety of a fixed-roof sports car, especially in its rare vinyl window versions.

🎁 Happy Christmas 🎄

📸 TREASURE OF THE DAY - 🇬🇧 The Mighty Mini: Small Car, Big Attitude 🚗💥

Born in 1959 to fight a fuel crisis (and possibly traffic jams before they were trendy), the Mini was Sir Alec Issigonis’ brilliant idea for squeezing a family and their shopping into something the size of a shoebox. With a sideways engine and wheels at the corners, it handled like a go-kart and parked like a dream.
It didn’t just win hearts — it won rallies! The cheeky little Cooper became a motorsport legend and a ‘60s style icon faster than you can say “British Invasion.”
Proof that big things really do come in small, noisy, oddly charming packages. 🇵🇹🎯

📷 TREASURE OF THE DAY - THE SERIES 1 JAGUAR E-TYPE MODEL - OTS 🇬🇧🇵🇹

The Jaguar E-Type, is a British front mid-engined sports car that was manufactured by Jaguar Cars Ltd from 1961 to 1974. The E-Type’s claimed (240 km/h) top speed,[4] sub-7-second 0 to 97 km/h acceleration, largely unitary body construction, front and rear independent suspension with disc brakes, mounted inboard at the rear, and rack-and-pinion steering spurred industry-wide changes.

The E-Type was based on Jaguar’s D-Type racing car, which had won the 24 Hours of Le Mans for three consecutive years beginning in 1955.

The E-Type employed what was, for the early 1960s, a novel design principle, with a front subframe carrying the engine, front suspension and front bodywork bolted directly to the body tub. No ladder frame chassis, as was common at the time, was needed and as such the first cars weighed only 1,315 kg.

📷 TREASURE OF THE DAY - MERCEDES BENZ G-WAGON 300GD 🇩🇪🇵🇹

The idea for the Mercedes-Benz G-Wagon first came to be back in 1973. At the time, one of Mercedes’ largest shareholders, the Shah of Iran, suggested that the car company make a military off-road vehicle that also appealed to civilians. To meet the specifications necessary for a military vehicle, Mercedes partnered with the manufacturer Steyr-Daimler-Puch of Austria, which had a history of producing military equipment.

Mercedes and Steyr-Daimler-Puch then created a joint company called Galandefahrzeug-Gesselschaft. After several years of producing test models, Mercedes-Benz released the Geländewagen (German for “off-road”) to European markets and the Mercedes-Benz G-Wagon was born.

The 1979 first-generation model had three different body styles, including a convertible, a two-door, and a four-door option. In addition, there were three engine options available: a 2.3-liter gas four-cylinder, a 2.4-liter diesel four-cylinder, and a diesel five-cylinder. Some other important features of the new G-Wagon included a climbing ability of up to 80%, a ground clearance of 21 cm, a roof carry capacity of 200 kg, and power steering.

“The most beautiful car in the world” - Enzo Ferrari

When the Jaguar E-Type Series 3 was first introduced in 1971, one of the most impressive and enticing alterations it featured was the brand new 5.3-litre Jaguar V12 engine.

Other changes to the E-Type’s interior components included uprated brakes and standard power steering, as well as the optional additions of an automatic transmission, wire wheels and air conditioning.

The Series 3 E-Type’s external alterations included flared wheel arches, wider tyres, a large cross-slatted front grille, four fishtail exhaust tips, and a V12 badge on the rear, all of which visually distinguished it from the other E-Type Series.
