🐦 Myna Birds in Qatar – A Problem for Nature

The Common Myna, a bird brought from Asia, has become a serious invasive species in Qatar. It spreads quickly, fights with native birds, destroys their nests, and causes noise and mess in cities.

To protect the environment, the Qatar government is trapping these birds—over 8,800 were caught in early 2024. Their numbers are now going down, especially around Doha.

The goal is to protect Qatar’s native birds and keep nature in balance.
