It was an extraordinary experience to have Sylvain Sankalé as our guest here in Arad, as the curator of the exhibition GUISS GUISS – Between Mask and Identity, signed by Laye Thioune, and to accompany him throughout the four lectures held in Arad and Timișoara.
The meetings took place at the Faculty of Arts and Design of West University of Timișoara, at the Faculty of Design of Aurel Vlaicu University of Arad, and at the Art High School in Arad, while the final meeting took place on Saturday, May 16, 2026, at After 5 Art Escape Gallery.
We would like to thank Mr. Sylvain Sankalé for this remarkable journey, through which he introduced us to the universe of contemporary Senegalese art and to the Dak'Art Biennale — the largest art biennale in Africa and the fifth most important in the world. We also extend our gratitude to all participants from the three institutions, as well as to the professors whose openness and support made these encounters possible.
We would also like to thank everyone who joined the final discussion of this series, hosted at After 5 Art Escape, from where we are sharing a few images.
