Italian bars from the 1970s and 1980s were designed almost like cinematic interiors:
integrated lighting, smoked glass, chrome tubing, mirrors, glossy lacquer, and sculptural geometries transformed them from furniture into atmosphere.

Their aesthetic was deeply influenced by Milanese nightlife, luxury hotel interiors, disco culture, futuristic space-age optimism, radical Italian design movements, and the rise of postmodern architecture.

Our latest 🚨 🚨 DROP is here!
And this is one of the products that keeps us up at night:

Sala Palatului is one of Bucharest’s most iconic examples of Socialist Realist architecture, designed by Horia Maicu, Tiberiu Ricci, and Ignace Șerban between 1959–1960. Monumental, severe, and subtly modernist, the building remains a defining landmark of the city.

For this lounge area created by as part of the FOMO event, we proposed objects capable of existing in dialogue with the monumental beauty of the socialist interior rather than disappearing beneath it.

Our work ethic simply couldn’t let this slide.

We built everything around quality, restoration, and respect for design. That is what differentiates us.

Anything that can be restored, we restore.
We clean, polish, repair, reupholster, and invest care into creating a smooth experience for both clients and collaborators.

Because values are not just something we communicate.
They are something we operationalize daily through our work.

After almost 2 years of trying to recover a payment, we realized something important:

Speaking up is sometimes necessary.

Because imagine how many others are in the same position but stay quiet.

Some businesses should not continue thriving at the expense of others carrying the cost for them.

So be bold enough to speak up!
Not from revenge.
From self respect for your own work.

Comment below and let us know: do you think we were ever paid in the end?

What keeps us awake at night? Glass bricks and stainless steel interiors.

When designing the interior, Thomas Karsten and Alexandra Erhard of Studio Karhard drew from their experience creating the interiors of Berghain in 2003, Berlin’s iconic techno club located inside a former power plant.

The photography is by Robert Rieger.

If you like our pictures, it might be interesting to know that the process usually starts long before the camera comes out.

Sometimes 10 steps before.
Sometimes one week before.
Sometimes more.

Take this rosewood background, for example.

What looks like one smooth, elegant wall is actually the result of several pieces of wood, carefully planned, selected, produced, assembled and aligned to create a seamless visual backdrop for our furniture.

Here is what it took:

01. We created moodboards to find the right wood tone and finish.
02. We defined the visual direction: modern, simple, dark, elegant and high-end, so the background would match the furniture we curate.
03. We researched the wood options available on the local market.
04. We visited suppliers to see the materials in real life.
We compared texture, durability, finish and visual impact.
05. We sketched the best dimensions in Figma, based on our furniture setups and photo compositions.
06. We planned the structure in 3D, so it could support itself properly.
07. We planned how it could be assembled, moved and reused, even though it is very heavy.
08. We designed the connections between the pieces, so the final result would look like one smooth wall.
09. We produced and assembled the wooden structure.

The planning took around two weeks.
The production took at least another week.

All of this for one background.

But for us, the background is never just a background. It is part of the atmosphere, the story and the way each piece is seen.

At Urban Vintage, we imagine and create visual setups for furniture, interiors and creative campaigns with the same attention to detail that we put into the pieces we curate.

Come visit our space and see it in real life.
