ممتن لزبوني وثقتهم فيّ حين صممت بيتهم ورأوا هذه اللوحة وطلبوا أن تكون جدارية في أحد أركانه.

رسمتها عام 1406…
واليوم تعود بعد أكثر من أربعين عاماً كأنها خُلقت لهذا المكان…
وكأنها كانت تنتظره.

Grateful to my client
for their trust in me and for choosing this piece to become a mural in their home.

Created in 1406…
and today, after more than forty years it finds its place here as if it was always meant to be.

⁨ بين خيوط الحرفة… وذاكرة المكان،
وُلد محراب ستافورد كأنّه أثرٌ قديم، أعيدت قراءته بروحٍ معاصرة.

بفخر، وبصفتي سفيرًا فخريًا لمؤسسة بركات،
أشارككم هذا العمل بمناسبة العيد حوارٌ يتجاوز الشكل،ويقترب من الإحساس…
حيث يلتقي الفن الإسلامي بروح المجتمع،ويمتد من ستافورد… إلى القاهرة…
ثم يعود محمّلًا بذاكرةٍ جديدة تنتمي للمكان.

‏“Interlaced” ليس تصميمًا يُرى فقط،
بل حكاية تُلمس…
تُنسج بالخزف،وتُخاط بالخيامية،لتكشف كيف يمكن للجذور أن تنمو في الحاضر، دون أن تفقد عمقها.

شكرًا لمؤسسة بركات حيث لا يُقدَّم الفن كمنتج،
بل كجسرٍ حيّ… بين الثقافات، وبين الناس.

Between threads of craftsmanship… and the memory of place,the Stafford Mihrab was born like an ancient trace, reinterpreted through a contemporary soul.

where Islamic art meets the spirit of community, stretching from Stafford… to Cairo…
and returning, carrying a renewed sense of belonging.

“Interlaced” is not merely something to be seen,but something to be felt woven through ceramics, stitched through the art of khayamiya,
revealing how roots can grow within the present without ever losing their depth.

لم أصمّم بعيدًا عن الأطلال بل صمّمتُ بينها.

اخترتُ أن أكون جزءًا من ذاكرتها لا متفرجًا عليها.

أكملتُ الطين بلغةٍ معاصرة لا لأستبدله…
بل لأمنحه امتدادًا.

ليعود المكان إنسانًا وتعود له روحٌ لا تُختصر في جدارٍ منتهٍ وحده.

هذا ليس مبنى جديدًا بل إحياءٌ لحيٍّ تقليدي ولحياةٍ سكنت هذه البيوت يومًا كي نكمل المسيرة الجميلة… معًا.

I did not design away from the ruins
I designed within them.

I chose to stand inside their memory, not observe it from afar.
I completed the mud in a contemporary language not to replace it, but to extend its life.

So the place could become human again so it could regain a soul not remain a finished wall standing alone.

This is not a new building.
It is the revival of a traditional neighbourhood and of the lives once lived within it so we may continue the beautiful journey together.

⁨ في 26 يناير 2026 أتشرف بالمشاركة في جلسة حوارية ضمن منتدى الفنون التقليدية، نناقش فيها حضور الفنون التقليدية داخل المشهد البصري المعاصر.

حوار يتناول التراث بوصفه لغة حيّة، لا تُستعاد فقط، بل تُعاد قراءتها وتفعيلها عبر التوثيق، والتجربة، والممارسة البصرية الواعية.

نقف عند أسئلة التوازن بين الأصالة والابتكار، ودور الصورة في حفظ الذاكرة الجمالية، وصياغة سردية بصرية تعبّر عن الهوية الوطنية بعمق ومسؤولية.

On January 26, I’m honored to take part in a panel discussion at the Traditional Arts Forum, exploring the presence of traditional arts within contemporary visual practice.

The conversation approaches heritage as a living language not merely preserved, but continuously reinterpreted through documentation, experimentation, and conscious visual practice.

We reflect on the balance between authenticity and innovation, the role of imagery in safeguarding cultural memory, and how visual narratives shape and express national identity today.

في مكة… لا يولد العمران من الحجر، بل من الفهم.
فالمحور الممتد نحو الحرم ليس طريقًا بل خيطًا من نورٍ يقود الخطوات ويهذّب القلب قبل أن يصل الجسد.

هناك… يصبح المرور عبورًا وتتحوّل المسافة إلى ذكر وتغدو المدينة رفيقًا صامتًا يخدم الحاج والمعتمر والزائر دون أن يرفع صوتًا أو يطلب شكرًا.

وعندها يدرك المرء أن الطريق نفسه جزءٌ من الشعيرة وأن مكة مدينة تُصلّي دون أن تتكلم.

In Makkah, the city does not rise from stone,
but from understanding.
The axis that stretches toward the Haram is not a road but a thread of light that guides one’s steps and refines the heart before the body arrives.

There, movement becomes passage distance turns into remembrance and the city becomes a silent companion
serving the pilgrim and the visitor alike
asking for no praise and raising no voice.

Only then one realizes
that the path itself is part of the rite,
and that Makkah is a city that prays
without ever speaking.

⁨ خلال لقائي مع ريكاردو كرم كان لقاءً مع الذاكرة…
تحدثنا عن والدي الراحل نهار النصار، وعن ذلك الأثر الذي لا يتوقف عند الرحيل، بل يبدأ منه.

وتوقفنا عند مبادرة تكريم التي تمنح الضوء لمن يستحقه وتحتفي بالوجوه العربية الملهمة وتُعيد الاعتبار للنجاح الهادئ والعمل الصادق ذلك النوع من النجاح الذي لا يطلب التصفيق، بل يصنع أثره في العمق.

My encounter with ‪.karam.official‬ was an encounter with memory itself.
We spoke about my late father, Nahar Al-Nassar and about the kind of legacy that does not end with one’s absence but quietly begins ther‪‬lm

Our conversation found its way to ‪‪‬merica which honors inspiring Arab figures and restores the dignity of quiet success and honest work the kind that does not seek applause, but leaves an imprint within.

حين زرت المدرسة، أشرق في قلبي ضوء مختلف، لأنني رأيت كيف تحوّلت قصصي إلى مسرحية نابضة بالحياة. ليس هذا فحسب، بل إن الطالبات قد أبدعن في أعمال تنبض بروح التراث: من القهوة العربية التي تعبق بالأصالة، إلى الزخارف المستوحاة من جنوبنا الأصيل، إلى تصميم المجوهرات المستلهمة من ورد الطائف، وحتى عوالم العمارة التي تعكس إبداعهن.

إنني فخورٌ جداً بما رأيته اليوم، فقد رأيت في أعمالهن قصة وطن يُروى بحب وشغف، وأشارككم هذه اللحظة بفخر .

Today, as I stepped into the school, I was greeted by a different kind of light.

Here, I saw the students’ pre final works blossoming with the maturity of ideas and the sincerity of passion.

But what delighted me even more was witnessing how they transformed my stories stories I once shared with them in my office about my travels across the Kingdom’s historical sites into a beautiful theatrical performance.

From the aroma of Arabic coffee to the southern-inspired ornaments, from jewelry designs inspired by Taif’s roses to architectural touches everything was a testament to their creativity.

I am truly, truly proud of them and delighted to share this moment

من جدةً بوابة مكة لم تكن المدينة مجرد ميناء
بل كانت ذراعاً مفتوحة للعالم.

عبر هذا البحر دخلت لغات وملامح وحِرف، ودخل معها الإنسان قبل التجارة والحكاية قبل الحجر.

جدة لم تستقبل الثقافات لتذوب فيها بل رحّبت بها وأعادت صياغتها في بيوتها وأزقتها لتظل حيةً حتى اليوم.

في هذه الجول لن ننظر إلى المباني كجدران، بل كذاكرة حيّة نقرأ فيها كيف تشكّلت جدة وكيف أصبحت بوابةً للتلاقي.

⁨ التصميم الحقيقي لا يبدأ من الشكل بل من سؤالٍ ينساب بهدوء: كيف يعيش؟
كيف يقرأ حين يهدأ العالم وأين يترك كتابه ليعود إليه غدًا وأي ضوءٍ يحتاجه… لا ليُرى، بل ليطمئن في نهاية يومٍ طويل.

وحين تُفهم هذه الأسئلة دون استعجال تصبح التفاصيل قراراتٍ واعية وتتحوّل المساحة إلى مرآة خفيفة لساكنيها تشبهه دون أن تقلّده هادئة دون تكلّف صادقة ومصمّمة تمامًا… على مقاس الروح .

True design does not begin with form but with a quiet question: how does one live?

How do they read when the world slows down where does a book rest between moments and what kind of light is needed not to be seen, but to feel at ease at the end of a long day?

When these questions are truly understood details become conscious decisions and the space turns into a gentle reflection of its owner familiar without imitation calm without effort honest and designed precisely… to fit the soul.

⁨ تنسيق جدول زيارات أسبوع القاهرة للتصميم…
لم يكن مجرد تنظيم مواعيد، بل رسم لمسارات إلهام تتحرّك بين المواقع كما تتحرك الفكرة بين سطور المصمم.
كل محطة بدت وكأنها لحظة حوار بين المكان والخيال،
وأصبح الانتقال من موقع لآخر انتقالًا من رؤية إلى أخرى.

منصة Creative Dialogues حولت الجدول إلى رحلة فكرية،
يستيقظ فيها الإبداع همسًا، وتتراقص روح المبدعين بين أروقة القاهرة كأن المدينة تعيد اكتشاف نفسها عبرهم.

Coordinating the ‪.design.week‬ site visit schedule…
was not merely about organizing timings,
but about shaping pathways of inspiration moving between locations the way an idea wanders through a designer’s mind.

Each stop felt like a silent dialogue between space and imagination, transforming every transition into a shift from one vision to another.‪‬es turned the schedule into a thoughtful journey, where creativity awakens softly,
and the spirit of designers dances through Cairo’s corridors as if the city is rediscovering itself through them.
