Three design mistakes I see in almost every home I walk into and they’re all easily fixable.

Mistake #1: Your rug is too small. If it’s only under the coffee table, it’s making your whole room feel like a waiting room. The front legs of every sofa and chair need to be on it. Go one size up. Done.

Mistake #2: Your curtains are hanging at the window frame instead of the ceiling. Move the rod up to just below the ceiling and your ceilings instantly look a foot taller. Same curtains. Completely different room.

Mistake #3: You have zero lamps. One overhead light is not a lighting plan, it’s a vibe killer. Two lamps from IKEA or HomeSense will make your space feel completely different at night.

None of these require a renovation. Just knowing what to look for.
