the sweet beginning of a very anticipated 1989 dress - aka the blouse, but longer 👗
as a knitwear designer, i spend so much time knitting in the unknown. testing ideas, reworking details, ripping things back, trying to make everything sit just right. so there’s something strangely calming about finally knitting from the finished pattern.
working up the yoke honestly felt a little emotional - like revisiting all the highs and lows of designing it in the first place. the construction still makes me proud. the way the shaping flows together with the stitch pattern, all the tiny increases and decreases working behind the scenes… it took a lot to figure out, but knitting it from the final pattern feels so smooth and effortless now.
not really sure what i’m trying to say, except that it just hit me how much love, time, and brainpower goes into making these designs as good as they can possibly be. and i really hope you can feel a little bit of that when you knit them too 💞
