Hello tout le monde ! J'ai accueilli pas mal de nouvelles personnes ici ces derniers temps, alors je me suis dit qu'il était temps de me présenter.

Moi, c'est Jo. Je suis fleuriste depuis 8 ans et, il y a 11 mois, j'ai créé une petite ferme florale à Pantin, at La Cité Fertile.

Chaque tige est semée, cultivée et récoltée par mes soins, puis composée en bouquet avec beaucoup d'amour (et énormément de joie !). Mon objectif est simple : montrer qu'il est possible de cultiver de magnifiques fleurs de saison, tout près de Paris.

Je vends mes fleurs à des fleuristes ainsi qu'aux amoureux des fleurs ultra-locales et fraîchement coupées. Vous pouvez participer à l'un de mes ateliers floraux pendant toute la saison, rejoindre le Flower Club, ou simplement suivre ici les joies (et parfois le chaos!) de la culture des fleurs.

Que vous soyez ici pour les fleurs, le jardinage, ou juste pour un peu de beauté dans votre quotidien, soyez les bienvenu·es. 🌸💕

Howdy everyone! I've had a few new followers recently, so I thought I'd say hi!

I'm Jo. I've been a florist for 8 years, and 11 months ago I started a small cut flower farm in Pantin, just outside Paris, at La Cité Fertile.

Every stem is grown by me from seed and arranged with love (and quite a bit of joy!) here at the farm. My mission is simple: to prove that beautiful, seasonal flowers can be grown right here on the outskirts of Paris.

I sell flowers to florists and bouquets to lovers of super-local, fresh flowers. You can join one of my floral workshops throughout the growing season, order a flower subscription, or simply follow along for the beauty (and sometimes the chaos!) of growing flowers from seed.

Whether you're here for the flowers, the growing, or simply a bit of beauty, you're very welcome. 🌸💕

Alongside the main production area at Friche Florale, I built what I call the "F": five tiny raised beds in the form of the aforementioned letter.

F for Friche
F for Flowers
F for Farm

It was meant to be a more visible, tiny version of the overall project.

But, over time, this little spot has come to mean much more to me.

F for friends, those near and far who have supported the project by cheering me on, telling others about it, helping me lug around heavy wheelbarrows of miscellaneous materials at all hours of the day, watering when I couldn't be there during the first (loooong) heatwave in June, and offering general mental health support through the scary months of waiting to see if anything at all would grow. You know who you are. You're all precious human beings, and the farm would not exist without you.

F for the florists, big and small, who have supported the farm by buying and championing local flowers.

F for other flower growers: for the advice, for the encouragement, for creating a sense of local flower-growing community here in France and further afield.

F for fear, genuine worry that maybe this time the risk was too big, that nothing would come of it, that I wasn't ready.

F for the future, learning that not everything can be controlled, to trust in nature, and to stay optimistic in the face of forest fires and back-to-back heatwaves.

Flower farming, in general, forces you to live in the moment, to be resourceful and to roll with the punches, solving problems in the present.

But I think there is value in taking stock, looking back, and being proud of the road that led to the present moment.

So I wanted to take some time this morning to say a huge thank you, or should I say "Fanks"?

The farm is open for most of August. Let me know if you'd like some super-fresh flowers, grown with the support of a community of extra hands and minds behind the scenes that I couldn't possibly list in just one post.

Mollie Pom-Keane and Flo were the dream wedding clients (although I seem to attract quite a few of those 🥰). They booked me 18 months in advance, which meant I could plan my entire flower-growing season around their wedding.

Every stem for their celebration was grown by me from seed or, in the case of the dahlias, from tubers planted in my little greenhouse months before the big day.

They got married in October, so we decided together that the focal flowers would be amaranthus and dahlias in all shapes and rich autumnal colours. We wanted bold, warm and romantic arrangements.

A few months before the wedding, Mollie sent me this photo of her Grandma Margaret on her own wedding day, decades earlier. And what was in her bouquet? Dahlias. It felt like such a beautiful full-circle moment.

I designed Mollie's bouquet with a gentle cascade, using my most beautiful dahlias as a modern interpretation of her grandmother's bouquet. She absolutely loved it and tells me so, very often, years after.

I adore wedding floristry because, at its heart, marriage is about love, family and community. Through my flowers, I get to become a tiny part of your story, and sometimes that story spans generations.

This is why I only take on a limited number of weddings each year, so I can grow flowers specifically for each couple and create something that's completely their own.
..and if you're wondering how invested I'll be in your wedding, looking back at these photos this morning made me cry with nostalgia.
