Lies destroy far more than most people realize. They tear apart relationships, erode friendships, and slowly kill trust. Not always overnight, but piece by piece. Once someone lies to you, you begin to question everything else they have ever said. What once felt safe suddenly becomes uncertain.
To me, a lie is as filthy as dog s**t on the sidewalk. You don't want to step in it, and once you do, the smell follows you long after you've walked away. It's not just the lie itself that disgusts me. It's the complete lack of respect it shows for the person being deceived.
The truth can hurt, but it gives people the chance to understand, forgive, or move on. A lie steals that choice. That's why I will always choose an uncomfortable truth over a comfortable lie.
Trust takes years to build, seconds to destroy, and for many people it is never fully restored. Before you lie to someone, ask yourself one question: is it really worth the price?
