JShi Ceramics

JShi Ceramics JShi Ceramics is a hobby business, run by Jenney Shi, selling unique handmade ceramics 🌿 I hope you love my products as much as I love the process!

My name is Jenney; I work as a product designer during the day and in my spare time, I produce small batches of handmade ceramics. I'm originally from Vancouver, Canada, but for now, Stockholm, Sweden is my home 🧡 – along with my partner Oliver and our baby Shiba Inu, Lando đŸ¶. I started working with ceramics after searching for a creative outlet to unwind from my day job. I immediately fell in lov

e with pottery: it allows me to create something tangible and physical, and within the clay, there are endless possibilities. It also teaches me patience and resilience, as more often than not, my pieces don't make it to the end. I’m still very much a beginner and have a long way to go, but each time I sit down at the wheel or make something hand-built at the studio, I learn something new!

The first batch of my glaze test adventure is out đŸ”„! There were so many possibilities that I had a really hard time limiting myself. And even still felt I had too many variants to juggle 😅.

But out of this I have a few favourites to continue on. I think none of these I'm 100% happy with yet but they look promising. Perhaps adjusting the colour oxides by a tiny bit will do the trick.

What do you think? Which set is your favourite?

I spent the last week at this magical place on Öland, learning about glaze theory. A whole week of learning, being surrounded by nature, flowers, likeminded people.

I am very much looking forward to start developing my own glazes. I already have some cool ideas to test! Ingredients to buy, test tiles to make đŸ€“

Also..crazy but already can't wait for next summer! I plan to go back and take up one of the other fun classes they run đŸ€—.

It's a busy summer so far in and out of the studio â˜€ïžđŸŒˆ. But between working at the studio and my normal day job, we still managed to make the most of summer, so don't feel too much vacation fomo, yet hehe.

Been stocking up on old and new things, in preparation for the fall and Christmas. For once, I'd like to think I'll be ahead of the game and will manage to avoid the November mad dash..let's see 😅.

Next week I will head to Öland for a very special reason, so stay tuned đŸ€“đŸ˜Ž

New vase for summer 🌞🌿.

How is everyone coping with the heat? It's okay in Stockholm, we're lucky our apartment is actually nice and cool 😎, despite being over 100 years old.

Although at my office we're all melting a little đŸ« . There are also some opposing views of windows open or closed in this weather going on there 😅đŸȘŸ

A little before and after comparison of how these cups morph during trimming. Actually it's not too much change!

Trimming continues to be the worst part of the process for me 😆, but I'm slowly working on improving efficiency and getting it right đŸ’Ș
