Our relationship with Wittmann began around 2018, with our first visit to the company. But our connection with Wittmann and its design legacy goes further back, through the work of Luca Nichetto’s former university professor Paolo Piva, one of the brand’s most important designers.

The collaboration grew closer over the years and, around 2020, evolved into the art direction of the brand. Together, we defined a direction rooted in craftsmanship, lasting quality and a dialogue between Wittmann’s Viennese heritage and our own Venetian background.

Although our role as Art Director came to an end a couple of years ago, the relationship continues. Seeing that the pillars we envisioned and shaped are still part of Wittmann’s trajectory today makes this collaboration particularly meaningful to us, creating the continuity from which new projects can still emerge.

Goodbye, Banchina.
For 20 years, Banchina dell’Azoto has been our home in Venice.
A place where projects took shape, ideas were tested, prototypes came and went, deadlines ran late, and many people passed through the doors, each leaving something behind.

We worked here, grew here, celebrated here. What began as a space for a young design practice became part of NICHETTO® itself.
Now it’s time to move on and make room for a new chapter.

Buildings come and go, but some places stay with you.

As Art Director for Barovier&Toso, NICHETTO® brought together a selected group of international designers for 2026 Chapter 1, each invited to approach Murano glass through a distinct perspective.

In Conversation With explores the relationships behind these collaborations, and how different design cultures enter into dialogue with Barovier&Toso’s heritage.

For Keiji Ashizawa, the starting point was his ability to move naturally between architecture, interiors, furniture and craft. His sensitivity to material and space offered us the opportunity to explore how Murano glass could take on an architectural presence, bringing Japanese and Venetian design cultures together through geometry, material and a shared attention to craftsmanship.

As part of NICHETTO®’s artistic direction for Barovier&Toso, a selected group of international designers came together to shape 2026 Chapter 1.

In Conversation With reveals the relationships behind these collaborations and the different perspectives contributing to the evolution of Murano glass, connecting its heritage with new directions.

With Garcia Cumini, the relationship goes back a long way. Luca Nichetto and Vicente García Jiménez first met at the beginning of their careers, while the studio had already established its own connection with Barovier&Toso through previous projects. For 2026 Chapter 1, this shared history became the starting point for a new collaboration: expanding the Agave family and exploring its potential through a common sensitivity for research and experimentation.
