Introducing Studio 12 (Edition 2)
Twelve artist-grade colors, hand-mulled in small batches and housed in a classic white enamel tin with generous mixing wells.

This edition reflects a shift in our palette. Earth tones, muted hues, and quiet pigments sit alongside vivid primaries for a balanced and grounded selection. Each pan is made in our studio with care and patience. No fillers. No shortcuts.

The palette measures 12cm by 7cm when closed, compact enough to take anywhere. It is a familiar palette that allow artists to reconfigure the colors anyway they like.

Studio 12 evolves with each edition with new colors availability and formula improvements. Once sold out, this set will not be reissued in its current color configuration and is subject to some changes.

Available now online and in store. Only a dozen available!

New set: Studio Companion
Six new handmade colors to add to your rotation, housed in a 12-slot beige palette that fits in your palm.

This launch was made to pair with our original Studio Six, but also works perfectly as a standalone. You can mix, match or top up with your own colors in the six empty half pans provided.

Featuring:
Hansa Yellow Medium (PY74)
Cochineal Carmine (Genuine)
Hematite Red (PR102)
Mars Yellow Deep (PY42)
Olive Dust (PG23)
Madder Lake Light (Genuine)

All hand-mulled with no fillers or brighteners. Some pigments activate instantly. Others like Cochineal, Olive Dust and Madder Lake are more subtle and need a little coaxing. That's part of the beauty and natural characteristic of the pigment properties, and add an unique, exciting element to your painting journey.

Now available online and in store. Limited batch.

Cochineal Carmine is back.
Once worth more than its weight in gold, this crimson pigment is derived from the cochineal insect, long prized for its vivid hue. Used by the Aztecs and traded across empires, it remains unmatched in depth and clarity.

Our version is genuine, transparent, and granulating with a soft luminosity that builds beautifully in layers. The flow is smooth, the undertone warm, and the character delicate yet bold. It mixes with a wide range of colors to produce glowing purples, rich maroons, and lifted earth tones.

Available again online and in store. Each pan is hand-mulled, poured in layers, and left to cure naturally. Limited batch.

This plein air scene was painted with our Studio Six set by Singaporean Artist Yeo Jian Long — and he made the pigments sing.

He mentioned he liked the strong pigment load and how the granulation came through without that glossy or tacky feel. This is the result of keeping the binder to pigment ratio balanced with meticulous grinding and mulling by hand, without the use brighteners or extenders, so what you’re seeing is really the pigment at work.

While some natural pigments are created to require some coaxing, this set is specifically curated to offer the most balanced user experience: Uncompromising colors with easy activation.

Ancient Clay (PR102) remains one of our more popular creation, noting how Jian Long mixes with Ultramarine to create a warm, earthy purple.

Grateful to see these paints in action. Thank you Jian Long for letting us share your work. Drop by his profile to see more of his artworks at

Now available: Hematite Red PR102
A grounded, mineral-rich red with earthy warmth and weight. This pigment comes straight from iron oxide and is milled by hand in our studio — the mulling process brings out its natural granulation and subtle complexity.

Swatch it out and you’ll see how it leans deeper than Ancient Clay, but with more glow than Iron Dust. Think rust, soil, stone — anything that needs to feel rooted.

Available now in half pans, online and in-store.

Two new sets, built for portability, flexibility, and colour strength. Made in limited batches.

Studio Six includes six foundational colours we keep coming back to.
Core Four is a focused selection designed for mixing and tonal versatility.

Each half pan is hand-mulled and poured in stages to minimise shrinkage and maximise pigment load. The binder formula is tuned for easy activation, even from a dry pan. No scrubbing needed, just strong colour payoff.

Housed in a compact black tin (approx. 6 × 5 cm), each pan is backed with a magnetic strip so you can rearrange or move them across palettes.

Quantities are limited. Once sold out, it will take time to return.
Available online and in store now.

Two of our more grounded pigments —

Ancient Clay (PR102) is a mineral red with warm weight and subtle granulation. Earthy and steady, it builds beautifully in dry brush and slow, layered washes.

Natural Black Iron Oxide (PBk11) has a dense, matte quality and quiet power. It leans neutral, almost stony, and gives strong coverage with just a touch of texture.

Both are available now in half pans, online and in store. Hope by our website for more detailed description and controlled swatches!

Inside the Cabinet at Drawing Etc.

This quiet corner of our studio holds the heart of Pigment Project. You’ll find raw pigments, gum arabic solution, and rows of half pans mid-curing for our next batch.

Each pan is poured up to four times to ensure a generous fill. Different pigments behave differently as they dry. Some shrink more than others, depending on their natural properties. That unpredictability is part of the process and what gives each batch its handmade honesty.

Our sets are currently sold out, but selected individual half pans are still available. Every colour is made with high-load, lightfast pigment and no fillers. Some of the natural mineral colours may activate more slowly, but we embrace that for the depth and nuance they offer.

Handcrafted in small batches here in Singapore. Check out our colors online, or in store!

Some colours take more out of you.

Alongside the usual brights and vivid pigments, we’ve been working with a few special earth minerals. This red and blue came from stone sources. Dry, stubborn, and slow to yield.

We had to rework the formula multiple times just to bring out the subtlety without compromising strength. Earth pigments aren’t always dramatic, but they carry quiet depth, weight, and a strong sense of place.

They’re also hard to get right. Dry to the touch, slow to rewet, easy to misjudge. But they belong on the palette.

This is part of why we’re doing this. To set our own standards, take our time, and honour the materials for what they are.

We’re nearly there. Can’t wait to show you the full set!

Something’s been brewing behind the scenes at Drawing Etc.

Small batch. Hand-mulled. High pigment load. We’ve been quietly developing something over the year: a line of handmade watercolor paints, crafted right here in our space.

We’re not ready to launch just yet, but we’re excited to start sharing little glimpses. The textures, the tools, the tint of it all.

The initial release will feature watercolors in muted earth tones, showcasing rare earth pigments. The aim is to create a sustainable, in-house product line that spans various mediums, including printmaking and oil paints, in addition to watercolors.

More coming soon.
