Most altar spaces look like they were added after the renovation was already finished.

That’s why many homes lose visual continuity near the entrance or dining area.

The altar becomes disconnected from the rest of the design language.

For this project, the altar was planned from the very beginning as part of the carpentry composition — not as an afterthought.

When closed, the space remains calm and seamless.
When opened, it reveals a dedicated prayer area with integrated lighting and storage.

The objective was never to hide spirituality.

It was to integrate it properly into the home without disrupting the atmosphere of the space.

Good planning solves problems before they become visible.

A well-designed home should feel cohesive even when multiple functions exist within the same space.

Open-concept homes fail when every corner wants attention.

One of the biggest mistakes in modern renovations is treating every wall like an individual showcase.

Different colours.
Different feature details.
Different concepts fighting each other.

The result is visual noise disguised as ‘design’.

This home was intentionally kept consistent through:
• restrained materials
• soft neutral layering
• concealed storage
• repeated wood tones
• clean lines throughout

That consistency is what creates calmness.

A home feels expensive when the space feels intentional.
Not when every corner screams for validation.

The best-designed homes are usually the quietest ones.

Next in the Strathmore series:
the concealed altar integration.

Most homeowners mistake ‘more design’ for better design.

That’s usually how homes become visually tiring after a few months.

Too many feature walls.
Too many materials.
Too many statements competing for attention.

Eventually, the space stops feeling calm.
It starts feeling crowded.

For this Strathmore resale home, the approach was restraint instead of excess.

Soft wood tones.
Quiet lighting.
Integrated storage.
Clean transitions.

Nothing in the space is trying too hard to impress you.

That’s exactly why the home feels effortless.

Good interior design is not about how much you can add.
It’s about knowing what should never be added in the first place.

This is Part 1 of our Strathmore Avenue resale home series.

Over the next few posts, we’ll be sharing different parts of the home — from the concealed altar integration to the calming bedroom spaces and functional planning details throughout the project.

Small homes don’t need more space.
They need better planning.

This 2-Room BTO at UrbanVille @ Woodlands Square was designed to feel calm, functional, and effortless to live in — through intentional layouts, concealed storage, warm lighting, and clean visual flow.

A compact home can still feel spacious when every detail works together quietly in the background.

Compact homes feel very different when every detail is planned intentionally.

This 2-Room BTO at UrbanVille @ Woodlands Square was designed to feel calm, spacious, and effortless to live in — without overcrowding the space with unnecessary elements.

Instead of forcing excessive carpentry into a smaller layout, the focus was placed on flow, concealed storage, lighting balance, and visual consistency throughout the home.

The integrated platform bed, projector setup, warm neutral palette, soft lighting, and clean transitions were carefully planned to make the space feel larger and more comfortable over time — not just visually, but functionally as well.

Every detail was designed to work quietly in the background of daily living.

Good interior design is rarely about adding more.
It’s about knowing what to prioritise, what to simplify, and how every element connects together cohesively.

Some homes look impressive but never actually feel restful.

For this 2-room BTO at UrbanVille @ Woodlands Square, the bedroom was designed around a calmer and slower living experience — a space where the client could properly unwind at the end of the day.

The integrated platform concept helped keep the room visually cleaner and more organised, while the soft warm tones and concealed lighting create a gentler atmosphere throughout the space.

Instead of introducing a bulky TV feature into the bedroom, a projector setup was incorporated to create a cleaner and more flexible viewing experience.

When not in use, the projector screen can be rolled up and kept away neatly, allowing the bedroom to maintain a more open and uncluttered visual environment daily.

The setup also allows the viewing angle to be adjusted more flexibly depending on how the client wants to use the space, making the room feel more adaptable without permanently dedicating an entire wall to a large TV feature.

Together with the integrated storage planning and seamless carpentry composition, the overall space feels softer, quieter and more breathable despite the compact footprint.

In smaller homes, comfort is often less about size —
and more about how the space makes you feel daily.

Over the next few posts, we’ll be sharing the final details and planning behind this Creamy Scandi home.

Small bedrooms become messy very quickly when storage is treated as an afterthought.

For this 2-room BTO at UrbanVille @ Woodlands Square, one of the client’s biggest requests was always to have a platform bed — something she had wanted since young.

Instead of treating the platform as a standalone feature, we designed it as part of a larger integrated concept that combines the platform bed, storage compartments, display shelving and wardrobe into a single seamless composition.

By merging these elements together, the space feels more intentional, organised and visually cohesive without overcrowding the bedroom with multiple bulky furniture pieces.

The elevated platform also helps create a subtle zoning effect within the room, while the integrated storage compartments maximise functionality within the compact footprint.

Warm wood finishes, soft lighting details and clean cabinet alignment further reinforce the calm and breathable atmosphere throughout the space.

For smaller homes, good design is often not about adding more features.
It’s about planning different functions to work together more seamlessly.

Over the next few posts, we’ll be sharing more details of this Creamy Scandi home — including the projector feature and lifestyle-focused planning throughout the space.

A kitchen can look clean on renovation day and still become cluttered 6 months later.

In compact homes, good design is not just about appearance.
It’s about solving everyday problems properly.

For this 2-room BTO at UrbanVille @ Woodlands Square, the kitchen was designed with a clean galley layout to maximise functionality while maintaining a visually light and breathable environment.

Overhead cabinets were fully utilised not only to maximise storage capacity, but also to conceal the exposed sewage pipes commonly found in many HDB kitchens, helping the overall space feel cleaner and more seamless visually.

The cabinet configuration near the laundry rack was also carefully planned with split casement doors, allowing the storage compartments to remain usable without obstruction when the laundry rack is in use.

Together with the warm cream tones, soft wood finishes and continuous cabinet alignment, the space feels brighter, calmer and more comfortable for daily living despite the compact footprint.

Over the next few posts, we’ll be sharing more details of this Creamy Scandi home — including the bedroom layout, projector feature and integrated storage planning throughout the space.

Some small homes feel calming. Others feel mentally exhausting.

The difference is usually not size.
It’s how the space is planned.

For this 2-room BTO at UrbanVille @ Woodlands Square, this dry pantry and dining corner was designed around the client’s everyday lifestyle — a space to prepare coffee in the morning, have a quick breakfast before work, or unwind at the end of the day.

A recessed display niche above the counter adds warmth and personality to the space, while keeping the overall environment visually clean and uncluttered. From coffee capsules and tea selections to small potted succulents and decorative pieces, the area was planned to feel functional yet calming to live in daily.

Instead of overcrowding the home with excessive features, the focus was placed on creating a softer and more breathable environment through warm tones, clean sightlines and integrated storage planning.

Over the next few posts, we’ll be sharing more details of this Creamy Scandi home — including the kitchen planning, bedroom layout and storage integration throughout the space.

If your 4-room BTO feels small, it’s not the size. It’s the design.

Most homes don’t lack space. They lack planning.

This project at Tampines St 96 wasn’t designed just to look good.

Every decision — layout, storage, proportions — was made to make daily living feel easier and more efficient.

A home can look good and still fail.

This one doesn’t.”
