A home built for two people and one very particular cat.

Kitchen opened up, storage planned into every corner, a walk-in wardrobe that keeps things calm. And a cat door tucked in so the floor stays clear for every member of the household.

Same footprint, completely different flow.

Living, dining, and kitchen now move as one continuous space instead of separate, cramped zones. Storage was planned everywhere, down to a walk-in wardrobe with a place for everything, and yes, even a built-in cat door so the floor stays clear for every member of the household.

The client had four legs.

The owner wanted this home to feel peaceful, and that brief extended further than expected. A cat door built into the design from day one. Storage placed everywhere so the floor stays clear, for the cat as much as for him.

Small details, but they're the ones that make a home actually work for everyone living in it.

We took this project on for a close friend, so we already understood what he wanted before we started, a home that felt peaceful and calm.

The kitchen used to feel small and cramped. We hacked the wall to the service yard to merge the two spaces and free up storage, then built storage throughout the rest of the house. Every carpentry edge was rounded off for his cat.

Timeline was the hardest part. Handing over on time was non negotiable, so we tracked every job closely and didn't cut corners.

The house went from dark and cramped to warm, bright, and spacious. That's the part we're happiest with.

Every space in this condo carries its own decision.

The foyer got a half height shoe cabinet to save room. The living room's display cabinet was extended flush with the TV console for one seamless line. The kitchen was hacked open into the old yard for more storage, finished with sintered stone.

In the master bedroom, a wardrobe designed just for the husband, plus a cat door built in for their cat. The wife has her own walk-in wardrobe and a sintered stone vanity table, built to display her bags. The master bathroom was fully revamped with a sliding shower screen to separate wet and dry.

Nothing here was left undecided.

Designing for elderly homeowners is easy to get wrong in one direction. Make it too clinical, and it stops feeling like home.

The harder version is calm that still accounts for reach, lighting, hinges, heights, without ever announcing itself as "designed for aging."

We talked to the designer about where those calls actually got made.
