Long before a space is complete, every surface is considered not only for how it looks, but for how it will be experienced.

Material selection is one of the first ways a design begins to express feeling. Tone, texture, weight, warmth, tactility, durability and the way materials respond to light all help shape the guest experience.

These early palettes become part of a much bigger conversation about how the space should feel, how it will be used, and what will help it stay relevant over time.

By spending time on selection and testing, we balance atmosphere with performance, creating spaces that feel considered from the first impression to the years that follow.

Matt Nadilo, our Associate Design Director based in London, has been announced as a Design Insider Ambassador.

Introduced alongside thirteen fellow ambassadors during a roundtable at Clerkenwell Design Week, Matt joins a collective representing the worlds of interior design, architecture, hospitality and residential design.

Asked to share one emerging idea designers should be paying closer attention to, Matt reflected on the evolving nature of wellness in hospitality, with longevity, vitality and medically led experiences becoming increasingly important parts of the luxury hospitality landscape.

“The definition of luxury hospitality is evolving,” Matt explained. “As audiences age, we’ll see greater demand for experiences centred around wellbeing, preventative health and longevity - spaces that seamlessly blend hospitality with wellness and care.”

Clint, Natalie and Matt recently travelled to Milan for Salone del Mobile, exploring a vibrant programme of exhibitions, installations and showrooms celebrating a wide range of design disciplines and influences.

The most exciting moments came from the themed and experimental installations that pushed the boundaries of the norm and were evocative through their unpredictability. Immersive, unexpected and thought-provoking, they offered a powerful reminder of design’s ability to create emotion and spark curiosity.

Travel and exploration continue to shape the way we think at BLINK, bringing fresh perspectives and inspiration back to the studio.

A private island with shifting landscapes: wetlands, grasslands, deer habitats, beach and water bodies.

Pavilion-style living sits beneath the tree canopy. Set within natural clearings and connected by shaded walkways, the journey becomes a walk through the forest.

Villas are conceived as ground-floor pavilions across the island, built above ground for a lighter touch.

Minimal structure, minimal disturbance. Sliding panels shift the boundary through the day, bringing light, shade and airflow into the living spaces.

Arrival is a garden threshold, not a hallway.

A quiet welcome where the island leads and the architecture stays light. Woven Filipino craft references sit subtly in the details, letting the landscape remain the focus.

Sometimes restraint is the detail.
