Framing the View, Painting with Light

Rooted in a modern minimalist aesthetic, this home embraces clean lines, refined materials, and layered lighting to create a living environment that is both serene and inviting.

The TV feature wall is designed as a framed composition, establishing a strong visual focal point. Finished with a textured stone mosaic, its intricate surface comes alive under carefully positioned lighting, adding depth and character to the space. Concealed storage seamlessly integrates functionality into the architecture, allowing the interior to remain clean, uncluttered, and effortlessly elegant.

Along the window, a custom-built low cabinet combines storage and display, while soft Roman blinds gently filter natural daylight into the home. Here, light becomes an essential design element, interacting harmoniously with materials, proportions, and architectural lines. Indirect cove lighting further softens the atmosphere, enhancing the richness of textures and creating a warm, sophisticated ambience.

The open-plan living and dining areas are unified through a consistent palette of colours and materials, promoting visual continuity and a fluid spatial experience. While providing generous storage solutions, the design preserves a sense of openness and effortless flow. Between Light and Order — A Modern Japanese Dining Space

The most distinctive feature of this space is the timber slatted ceiling that extends throughout the entire interior.

The design incorporates a series of continuous wood-finish slats that flow seamlessly from the entrance through to the dining area and sushi counter, creating a strong sense of visual direction and spatial continuity. Rather than being arranged in a flat, uniform manner, the slats are carefully designed with variations in height and subtle transitions, allowing the ceiling to move gracefully through the space like a flowing architectural element.

Integrated warm lighting is discreetly concealed within the slatted structure, casting a soft glow through the gaps between the timber elements. This creates a layered interplay of light and shadow, enhancing the atmosphere with warmth, depth, and sophistication while providing guests with a comfortable and relaxing dining experience.

A Gentle Order of Light and Space

This project adopts a palette of warm beige and light wood tones, using clean lines and restrained design to create a calm and welcoming living environment. The full-height TV storage wall conceals functional storage within a minimalist facade, keeping the space visually neat and cohesive.

The floating TV console, paired with ventilated grille details, balances lightness with practicality. A curved ceiling with concealed lighting allows soft illumination to flow through the space, creating a layered and ambient atmosphere.

Large windows bring in abundant natural light, connecting the interior with outdoor greenery and allowing the space to feel simple, comfortable, and naturally livable.
