Two crafts, one heartfelt creation
In this collaborative workshop by Stacy () & Evelyn (), you’ll learn single chain stitching on an A6 book and explore Hapa Zome — the poetic art of hammering nature’s pigments onto fabric.
📖🧵 Immerse yourself in the art of traditional bookbinding with one of the most beloved exposed spine bindings — the Chain Stitch — celebrated for its elegant linked pattern, strength, and flexibility. You will learn the sewing process of hand-binding an A6 book with chain stitches. Step-by-step, you’ll see how each link connects to form a durable and beautiful binding. With close guidance, you will pick up tips on thread tension, alignment, and finishing techniques to ensure both functionality and finesse in your finished book.
💐🌿You will decorate the book cover using Hapa Zome, which is the mindful art of hammering leaves and flowers to release their natural pigments. Get to choose from a selection of fresh blooms and foliage. The mindful moment of composing your design intuitively comes to play as you slow down, notice textures, shapes, and colors. Through gentle hammering, you will be surprised by the scents and colours of nature as the pigments unveil.
By the end of the workshop, you’ll take home your very own hand-bound book — a one-of-a-kind creation, stitched and printed with nature’s art.
💫 Perfect for beginners, craft enthusiasts and parent-child duos who love creating together. All materials will be provided. Kids ( 6 - 12 years old) must be accompanied by an adult.
No prior experience is required — just a love for paper, nature & creativity.
