The balcony used to have a larger floor area but with the original walls knocked down, the living room now has a larger area to comfortably fit a 2m long sofa. The wooden frames were extended to the living room to show a continuity between the spaces. The floor-to-ceiling sliding door gives depth to the interior which offsets the loss of height for the false ceilings. It gives an extensive view outside even when the doors are closed while having the option to also keep it open to enjoy the strong breeze.

The customized wooden frame sliding doors create a seamless connection between the study room and the communal spaces. Half of the doors are in clear glass panels and the other half in fluted glass panels which creates partial privacy when the doors are closed. This also allows natural light through and when pulled back, the study room and open area around the bookshelf looks like one large uninterrupted space. It is not only functional but also a heavy influence in the design of the home.

The hallway is more than just a path from room to room. It's also a great spot for displaying different art forms like paintings. If you look closely, there are 4 flush mounted lights on the base of the walls which are perfect for lighting up the hallway at night.

By tearing down the walls and reconfiguring the existing space in the kitchen, the whole area feels so much brighter and more spacious than before. The peninsula kitchen, other than giving more countertop space, also caters as an extra dining space. The homeowner shared that whenever she has friends over, they will sit and chat at the peninsula while she cooks for them, making this space a hot spot for hosting!

Behind this hardrock maple wood laminate feature wall hides the huge white bomb shelter door. The concealed door is made movable with wheels to access the bomb shelter easily. This feature wall is aligned with the full stretch of cabinets across the wall, which includes the built-in oven and fridge. Because the appliances require a minimum depth, there was plenty of space for storage behind the concealed door.

Home Tour | 4-room Resale HDB @ Pasir Ris

From paintings to interior decoration to material finishes, this home was designed to suit the homeowner's every customized needs of a dream home. The open concept kitchen flows into the dining and living area seamlessly, making the space feels airy and spacious. The island was almost put off as the homeowner didn't require that much storage and countertop space but I'm glad we went ahead with it. Just look at how much it complements the layout and it is also the heart of the kitchen! The bathrooms were given new lives as we put the niches in the walls to practical use and reconfigured the orientation of the common bathroom.

Completed Project | 5-room BTO @ Tampines Greenweave

|Living Room|
A modern home with oak brown and marble laminates for the carpentry in the living area which complements the off-white floor tiles provided by HDB. The suggested study was converted into the living area and the dining area was placed behind the sofa. This arrangement works well for homeowners who like to watch the TV while eating and it also makes the whole area a great space for hosting friends!

The full height feature along the whole wall was not only aesthetic but functional as it covers the niche in the original wall and also the electrical components for the LED lights. The fabric sofa, fluffy rug and sofa throw added softness to the whole interior.

|Kitchen|
A very popular layout amongst homeowners is a closed kitchen concept but retaining the look of an open kitchen. This kitchen initially came without a wall and we used the bottom cabinets to double as a half height partition. The half glass partition and full height glass door allow more light into kitchen, making it look more spacious than it already is. The tabletop and backsplash were made of the same material - KomopacPlus, and don't you think the laser cut design in the backsplash looks really good? The additional space outside the kitchen was intended for a bar area and a makeshift bar counter was flushed against the back of the kitchen cabinets, making it a good area to do some work while watching over the fire.

|Master Bedroom|
The master bathroom wall is overlaid with big format grey tiles and wooden tiles. A shower niche was built out from the existing wall to complete the whole rainshower experience. The darker color scheme makes the master bedroom a relaxing place to unwind and destress. The two spotlights direct ambient lighting onto the shower area and vanity area while the T5 lights in the box up enhanced the brightness of the bathroom.

The original BTO swing door of the bathroom was replaced with a concealed sliding door which removed the issue of the door hitting the shower screen when swung open. This sliding door is concealed behind the wardrobe and acts like a pocket door without having to hack or build an additional wall. The box up above the door covers the aircon trunking, creates a foundation for the aircon unit to be mounted on, and was also laminated with the same color as the door to complete the whole look.

Interior lighting and the right furniture plays a huge role in elevating the aesthetics and mood of the entire home. The main highlight of this video is the concealed sliding door in the master bedroom. It is the solution to the standard swing door that comes with the BTO which eats into the space of the bathroom when it swings open. This sliding door is concealed behind the wardrobe and acts like a pocket door without having to hack or build an additional wall.

One of the oldest apartments we ever renovated is this 46 year-old HUDC flat. The kitchen and toilets were given a total makeover from its original conditions. We chose bright and neutral laminates, which are easy on the eyes, for the entire home. The flooring in the living room was laid with homogeneous tiles and marble gum polishing was done to create a cohesive look. The black and white patterned tiles and the freshly painted yellow support bar gave the balcony a more fun vibe which demarcates it from the rest of the home.

Moving onto the kitchen, we were going for a mid-century look with the fish scales backsplash and the accent handles. The countertop used for the wet kitchen is a wood grain KompacPlus material with a downturn. To match the wet kitchen, we used a similar laminate color for the dry kitchen countertop. Lastly, for the bathrooms, we concealed the huge PVC pipes by boxing them up and created niches and shelves without taking up more space in the already tiny bathroom.

We will be posting some before & after photos in another post as we have reached the limit of 10 photos :') Stay tuned for more updates on this home!

This 4-room BTO open concept kitchen was designed with the given requirements:

▪︎ Having sufficient countertop space;
▪︎ Plenty of storage;
▪︎ An island kitchen that does not disrupt the flow of movement from kitchen to dining on either side of the island;
▪︎ Dining area with a lower table

We managed to nail the layout without compromising on any functionality. The soft wood tones from the tiles complement the neutral furniture really well and the faux monstera plant is the perfect accent. This easy and inviting palette, together with the warm white lights make it a cozy space to come home to :)
