Most of the time, it looks “off” because the details are fighting each other.

Too many laminates.
Wrong lighting temperature.
Overdesigned feature walls.

Most renovation shopping mistakes happen because homeowners buy in the wrong order.

You see a nice sofa, a pendant light, a dining table, a fridge, or bathroom fittings…

Then later you realise:

The size does not fit.
The colour does not match.
The carpentry has not been confirmed.
The lighting points are not ready.
The delivery timing is wrong.
The renovation cost starts changing.

For Singapore HDB and condo homes, the shopping order matters because every detail affects the next decision.

DB box location, aircon trunking, beams, service yard space, kitchen dimensions, carpentry layout, sockets, lighting points, tiles and flooring all affect what you should buy and when you should buy it.

The safer order is:

1. Carpentry & built-ins
2. Electrical & lighting
3. Tiles, flooring & wall finishes
4. Paint & wall finishes
5. Sanitary & pipes
6. Doors & glass
7. Loose furniture
8. Appliances & décor

Do not buy loose furniture, rugs, curtains, appliances or wall art too early.

Plan smart.
Shop smart.
