A half-century-old house, carefully stripped back and rebuilt into something quietly modern and unmistakably home. We preserved the house's bones, reworked the details, and introduced a black-and-white facade that greets the guests with a cheeky welcome. Inside, Aussie-minimalist calm meets warm, lived-in layers. Honest timber, soft textiles, and durable finishes that feel effortless and family-ready.

Buying a landed home is rarely just about space — it’s about what you can’t see on first viewing. Before you fall in love with the facade, check the fundamentals: asbestos risk, electrical loading, lightning protection, and structural condition.

Because the costly surprises are usually behind the walls, above the ceiling, or under the floor — and they don’t show up in listing photos.

A modern-Scandi kitchen where warm timber and bold marble meet understated elegance, with a rounded island anchoring the composition and a checkerboard floor for a playful rhythm. This is tactile, pared-back luxury: balanced composition, rich textures, and lighting that frames every detail.

Hidden compartments, flush panels, and precise detailing are the unsung heroes of a calm interior. They keep the mess out of sight, the lines uninterrupted, and the design looking far more effortless than it actually is.

At Haus Atelier, we believe good interiors are resolved in the details, where thoughtful joinery, spatial clarity, and everyday function are carefully considered from the start.

If you’re planning your next interior project, DM us and let’s design a space where nothing feels accidental.

We’re so pleased to share a concept of a kitchen currently in development. The proposal pairs a generous marble island with bespoke oak joinery, exposed timber beams and subtle brass fittings to create a calm, material-led composition. The neutral, material-led palette and considered fixtures creates a calm backdrop for everyday rituals.

We can’t wait to refine the details and take this from render to reality.

A reminder that “neutral” interior design doesn’t have to mean flat. Depth comes from contrast in finish, not colour: matte painted cabinetry, warmer timber, and stone that catches light differently through the day. That's why our kitchen reads calm instead of plain.

What happens when British Colonial meets Art Deco?
Timeless spaces with character.

The dark timber, panelled walls; layered with brass accents, bold geometry and a touch of 1930s glamour.

Would you mix these two styles in your home?
