NEW ARRIVALS: Zhejiang Red Lacquer Table & Fujian Pieces.

A small 2-drawer table from Zhejiang in beautiful original red lacquer. The drawer fronts are carved with delicate floral motifs, and the original butterfly-shaped brass hardware is intact and well-preserved. The row of fixed panels below the drawers conceals a hidden compartment. Dimensions: L89 x D38 x H83cm.

Standing on the table is a pair of Fujian cabinet doors, now used as a wall hanging. Beautifully carved, with original paintings in gold, teal, red and black that remain vivid throughout.
The pair of round stools to the left is also from Fujian. The seat top curves gently inward, and the spandrels below are decorated with flower motifs.

NEW ARRIVALS: Chaozhou Book Cabinet and Fujian Pieces.

This black lacquered book cabinet on the left is a Chaozhou piece and has just arrived. The large bulbous panels on the doors, a Chaozhou signature, are framed with gold gilt carvings, and the skirting below is beautifully carved with flowing vines and ferns. Dimensions: L94 x D45 x H165cm.

To its right are two pieces from Fujian, a red and gold washbasin stand, and a black side cabinet with red and gold carved panels.
In front and on top are an assortment of vintage lacquered tiered baskets from Wenzhou, some hexagonal, some round, all hand-painted with a unique design and patina.

New Arrivals: Antique Elmwood Long Console Table.

A long antique console table where both ends curve gracefully upwards. The tabletop is a single solid plank with nice beading along the table top and legs. Cloud-shaped spandrels connect the legs to the tabletop, and between the legs is an openwork cloud carving, a classic favourite. Dimensions: L214 x W36 x H87cm.

NEW ARRIVALS: Old Chinese Bookshelf.

An old bookshelf with slender, round posts and three spacious shelves, each bordered by simple openwork railings on three sides. A pair of small drawers sits between the lower two shelves.

Old bookshelves had tall open spacing for several reasons. Traditional Chinese books were scrolls, thread-bound volumes, and paperbacks, stacked horizontally rather than standing upright. The generous height also allowed for air circulation, helping to protect paper, wood, and silk from moisture and insects. Visually, the open spacing creates a sense of order, calm, and grandeur.

New Arrivals: Antique Henan Walnut Wood Cabinet.

An antique 2-door walnut wood cabinet from Henan, simple in form and rich in character. The original lacquer has aged beautifully into a rich, almost aubergine-tinged black, there's a lot of depth and warmth in it.

Constructed with a thick single-plank top, this is heavy and incredibly solid piece. The raised door frames, clean lines and pivot door hinges need no further decoration. The original brass hardware, worn to a dark patina, completes the understated look.

New Arrivals: Antique Shanxi Horseshoe Armchair & Leather Boxes.

This antique horseshoe armchair from Shanxi has excellent patina and beautifully restrained carving. The back splat features a graceful ruyi cloud at the top, and below it, a circular medallion of plum blossoms, it is understated and beautifully executed. Solid brass strips reinforce the arm joints, adding durability and character.

In Shanxi furniture, the plum blossom carries deep meaning. Blooming during the cold winter, it symbolises resilience and the promise of better days ahead - a virtue close to the heart of the Shanxi merchant, who endured great hardship in pursuit of a better life. It also represents the Five Blessings: fortune, prosperity, longevity, joy and wealth, and the quiet integrity of the scholar who does not bend to circumstance.

NEW ARRIVALS: Vintage Shanxi Red Chest.

A stunning vintage Shanxi red lacquer chest. The vivid cinnabar red - the colour of celebration and good fortune - sets the stage for a beautifully painted 博古图 (bógǔ tú), a classic scholar's antiques composition.

The paintings depict what many families wish for: peonies for wealth and prosperity, lotus for purity, stacked books and writing brushes for scholarly success, and abundant vessels overflowing with blessings. Together they carry a timeless wish: may this household enjoy wealth, scholarly success, many children, and a life of refinement. Dimensions: L85 x D48 x H66cm.

NEW ARRIVALS: Antique Zhejiang Table, Tibetan Painting & Chest.

A two-drawer table with splayed legs in beautiful original colour and patina. What sets this one apart are the thick round legs and the original drawer hardware - substantial brass plates with a cloud and scroll cutout design, their unusual thickness making them quite unique. There is a slight damage to the right plate but it remains functional. Dimensions: L99 x D43 x H90cm.

On the table sits a striking vintage Tibetan Buddhist Kalachakra painting, hand-painted in rich shades of red, green and saffron. The central Kalachakra symbol represents harmony, protection and the cycle of time, framed within a colourful stepped Tibetan-style border. Dimensions: 62.5 x H83.5cm.

Below the table is a small vintage Tibetan chest in burnt orange, painted with hanging garlands of auspicious objects, scrolling clouds and 卍 (wàn) border motifs. The original iron clasp hardware remains intact. Beside it sit two vintage pots from the Guangxi region, with a distinctive striped texture.

NEW ARRIVALS: Ming-Style Pedestal Table & Shanxi Door Panels.

A Ming-style pedestal table (架几案 jià jī àn), consisting of two pedestals supporting a single long table top - commanding yet understated, simple and well-proportioned. The table top is a solid single 5cm thick plank. Dimensions: L235 x W38 x H96cm.

Behind it stands a set of five antique door panels from Shanxi, full of character with beautiful wood grain and texture. The grids in the middle have a reeded design, and the outer frames carry a slightly rounded profile. Made entirely of pine, they are surprisingly and impressively heavy. Each panel: W57 x H280cm.

Also newly arrived is a small selection of leather boxes.

NEW ARRIVALS: Shanxi Kung Fu Bench.

A long kung fu bench from Shanxi with gorgeous original patina and colour. The seat top is a single solid wood plank and has a weathered, tactile surface. The unusually large spandrels connecting the seat and legs give this piece a distinctive look - bold and confident in shape. Dimensions: length 141cm, height 50cm, seat width 19cm, bottom width 30cm.

Standing on it is a vintage tavern sign that says 酒趣 (jiǔ qù) - the joy and pleasure of drinking. It's a perfect match for a bench that was used around the dining table.

Around it are vintage ceramic pots from Guangxi, a small low stool with round legs from Zhejiang, and a single antique stone lion from Shanxi.
