MAJU comes from the word “Majulah,” which translates to “onward” and “progress.” Our studio began with a mission to share Singaporean and Southeast Asian inspired designs with other parts of the world, and to explore new typologies and mixtures with the design languages and cultures of other nations.
Today, MAJU’s lamps have been featured in internationally renowned design publications such as Design Milk, Monocle, and designboom. Our work can be found in notable spaces such as Warner Bros. Records and the MoMA in New York. We are currently a best-seller at SF MOMA, stocked at the de Young Museum, and have recently been invited to stock at one of the largest US retailers (TBA).
Furthermore, a little over a year ago, we had the honor and privilege of winning Singapore’s very first iF Design Award in the lighting category.
It has been an incredible journey from a little red dot to homes, museums, and studios across the world. None of it would have been possible without the people who believed in what we were making.
Today, Singapore turns 61. So on our nation’s birthday: thank you to our amazing community back home, and to every supporter around the world who has given us the chance to share Singaporean and Southeast Asian design culture with you.
