The most asked question since we started designing lamps in 2009 has always been this:

💡 “What is the ideal height for my dining pendant lamp?”

After years of research, countless installations, and observing how Singaporean homeowners and interior designers actually live with their lighting, we’ve found one simple rule that works surprisingly well.

The bottom of the pendant lamp should sit around the eyebrow height of the tallest person in the home.

Why?

✓ The lamp feels visually connected to the dining table.
✓ It creates a more intimate dining atmosphere.
✓ It avoids blocking sightlines when seated.
✓ It provides comfortable task lighting without feeling too high or disconnected.

Of course, every dining space is different. Ceiling height, table size, lamp proportions, and interior style all play a part. But if you’re unsure where to start, this is often the sweet spot.

Good lighting isn’t just about choosing a beautiful statement lamp. It’s about placing it with intention.

Nine months ago, we worked with a homeowner who reached out after sharing our GEAR pendant light on social media —lamp was a bit out of position and the wires had been trimmed by the electrician, so a simple adjustment wasn’t possible.

After sending a new wire set, we worked together on two lighting height adjustments so they could see how it could fit just right.

Today, had well settled in, they’ve styled the lamp perfectly with the home decor—paired with a .asia bloom mirror, it adds depth, purpose, and a sense of calm.

We’re so honored to be part of their interior journey.

We Waited Weeks for These Marble Pieces… Then Broke One in 5 Seconds 💔

Running a small lighting design studio in Singapore means we do everything ourselves.

Designing lamps. Testing materials. Packing orders. Filming content. Unboxing new arrivals.

And sometimes… breaking them 😅

We were incredibly excited to receive this shipment of Perlato Grande marble from Indonesia — hand cut and polished by artisans, with beautiful fossil-like patterns running through every piece.

No two slabs are ever the same.

The soft off-white, khaki, and earthy brown tones make them perfect for the growing beige interior trend, bringing natural warmth and texture into modern homes.

Then while filming the unboxing…

We accidentally broke one.

Honestly, it hurt a little.

Because when you work with natural materials, you appreciate how much craftsmanship, labour, and care goes into every piece before it arrives at our studio.

But we thought we’d show you the reality behind small-batch lighting design.

Not every delivery is perfect.

Not every prototype survives.

Not every behind-the-scenes moment goes according to plan.

And that’s exactly why we appreciate the finished pieces even more.

The good news?

You’ll see at the end of this reel why we were so excited in the first place.

These marble pieces are transformed into organic wall sconces, allowing the natural stone patterns to become part of the lighting itself.

Yes, we restore vintage lamps.

Over the years, we’ve worked on everything from forgotten flea market finds to treasured family heirlooms. And recently, thanks to friends like , we’ve had the opportunity to bring even more vintage lighting back to life.

The truth is, lamp restoration is very different from lamp making.

A vintage lamp may look beautiful on the outside, but inside we often encounter:
• Brittle wiring
• Damaged lamp holders
• Non-compatible voltage from overseas markets
• Missing or discontinued parts
• Previous DIY repairs

Restoration is part craftsmanship, part detective work, and part problem solving.

For this project, we converted a vintage pendant lamp into a table lamp, complete with an extended cable and inline on/off switch, giving the piece a new lease of life while preserving its original character.

Because sustainable design isn’t always about making something new.

Sometimes it’s about saving something worth keeping.

Restoration starts from $70 for basic labour and standard parts. Imported fittings, special components, extended cables, and custom modifications are quoted separately.
