Bright, open, and built to host. That was the brief for this living room, and every detail here works toward it.

The lime wash running from the TV wall up to the ceiling keeps a minimal space from feeling flat. Layout stays open enough for the whole household, with room to grow into future entertaining. And natural light was prioritised throughout, not treated as an afterthought.

Small choices, but they're the ones that make a space feel like home instead of just a room.

She has enough cats that they got a say in the design.

Non negotiable cat tower by the entrance, a whole second room dedicated to them, and little spots built into the living room. All of it built in on purpose so it blends into the space instead of standing out.

Not just her home. Theirs too.

A one-word brief: bright.

New floor overlay, warm fixtures, wall finishes that keep a small bathroom feeling open instead of tight. It ended up being one of her favourite spaces in the house.

Ramya wanted an island but we didn't want to lock her into a fixed one, so we made it movable to flex with however she uses the space.

The pelmet above the counter holds spotlights that double as her filming light, so she's not fully dependent on natural light and can still adjust it to the shot. We brought character into the minimal base through a lime wash running from the TV wall up to the ceiling.

In the master bedroom, we hacked through into bedroom two for a bigger wardrobe, with enough space calculated in to convert it into a spare room later. Right now, it's the cats' room.

Every point in the house gets calculated against what the owners actually need, cats included. Functional first, character built in after.

Meet the two people behind this home.

Ramya is a vegan recipe food blogger. Ryann is her interior designer at Ciel. She came in wanting a minimal, light filled canvas she could layer personality onto over time, and chose Ciel for Ryann's industry connections and clear communication.

Ryann's approach was function first, character second, calculating every space around what the family actually needed. Even the cats had a plan from day one.

Ramya films and cooks for a living, so every part of this kitchen had to earn its place. A big fridge for her ingredients, a daily matcha corner, and a spice rack she calls her proudest detail.

The countertop is sintered stone, picked for being stain, scratch and heat resistant, with a colour chosen to contrast against her bright, colourful dishes. Since the kitchen gets little natural light, we layered in centre lights, LED strips and spotlights so she can mix and match for whatever she's filming.

Even the island is movable, so the space can open up for hosting or stay tight for everyday cooking.

Ramya films and cooks for a living, so her kitchen had one job most kitchens don't. The island was her must have, and the whole kitchen got pushed out to make room for it.

Storage runs top to bottom in one clean line, lighting tucks in above the cabinets, and everything stays white so nothing competes with the food on camera. The tonable lighting was the real win, shifting warm to cool depending on what she's shooting that day.

The cove ceiling she almost cut ended up being the detail that makes the whole space feel right on screen.

Built to feed a full house and still hold up under a camera.

The island anchors the whole layout, extended out so it could be worked from every side without feeling cramped. Storage runs clean top to bottom to keep the counters clear, and the lighting shifts from warm to cool depending on what the space needs.

Even the smallest details, like a ceiling touch that almost got cut to save cost, ended up shaping how the whole room feels.
