Captured during our recent site visit to 's quarry in Silvassa, where sculptural forms and natural stone are composed with quiet precision. Organic stone elements anchor the space, while integrated light moves gently across texture and reflection, allowing every junction, surface, and material transition to feel intentional. India has a rich collection of natural stone, forming the foundation of a longstanding legacy of materiality, craftsmanship, and timeless design.

Revisiting Kim Yam Road, where greymatters first began in 2012.

Our first studio drew from the character of a Brooklyn loft, layered with industrial textures, exposed brick, curated artefacts, and pieces brought back from New York.

For almost 14 years, it has been a place for curiosity, conversation, and creativity surrounded by books, warm light, and spaces designed for reflection. Inspired by the quiet discovery found in libraries, it was imagined as a space where creativity could flow freely, allowing ideas to be stumbled upon rather than sought out.

In many ways, it shaped how we think about hospitality today: creating places that invite people to slow down, connect, and discover something unexpected.

Hidden patterns of nature, translated into brand iconography. 🌿
Inspired by the Hoorah grass, the unsung hero and one of the most vital native species within every marshland ecosystem, these curated assets showcase a brand expression in one of our unfolding lifestyle hospitality projects into tactile rituals of stay. From textured textiles and embroidered robes to softened essentials and restorative moments, each piece explores the parallels between organic systems, conscious luxury, and sustainable design.

“Exactly like nothing else.”
In collaboration with Autograph Collection Hotels, , this brand activation explores hospitality through memory, ritual, and personal expression, from The Mark leather tag (a collectible memento for guests) to the evolving Daruma dolls. Each piece is designed to memorialise the guest’s stay, transforming moments of hospitality into objects of storytelling, identity, and curation.

Pinning together moments from our recent Guangzhou trip, where we specified finishes for an upcoming lifestyle hotel project. From a lighting fixture manufacturer to workshops producing cement stone, quartz, and terrazzo, many crafted with recycled aggregates such as crushed coffee grounds, wood fragments, and other reclaimed materials, we got hands-on, testing what works, what fits, and how each could perform in the design.
