Heman is a Chef & Ceramist. In the early ninety’s, it was with special opportunity that the late Dr Ng Eng Teng saw some of his art work, and find him somebody with artist talent and decided to take him under his supervision to teach him the art of handling clay / ceramic . To get an in-depth study about clay, Heman attended courses in LaSalle - SIA College Of Art and was put under the guidance o

f Mr Aaron Tan. He also attended training courses in North Staffordshire College Of Technology In Stoke-on-Trent College Of Art With Dr. Ng Eng Teng (in UK). With his artistic mind, he took part in many competitions and has many awards accredited to his name. He started conducting ceramic classes in 1992 when he set up Agape Ceramic Centre. In 1995 he started the Potter House in Malaysia but due to his passion for food, he went back to the Food industry and put ceramic as a part time hobby. As an Executive Chef in a reputed food & beverage chain, he is able to appreciate food display with the right ceramic ware and the satisfaction of seeing his own creation as one piece.

My ceramic practice explores clay as both a material and a metaphor for life. Working with agate ware, I layer and combine different clays, each with its own character, movement, and response to fire. Through this process, I learn to understand and respect their differences.
The flowing patterns created by these clays reflect how diverse elements can come together while maintaining their individuality. For me, ceramics is not only about technique, but about patience, balance, and discovering harmony through difference.

Having my last trail run for 2025.
2025 has been another tough year for me, filled with challenges and lessons.
But every step reminds me to reset my mindset, stand up again, and keep moving forward.
Set the mind right. Move on with purpose.
Have faith, stay focused, and do the things that truly matter.
“You Only Live Once” — not as a call to rush life, but to live it well and honestly.
As Mae West said, “You only live once, but if you do it right, once is enough.”
And Steve Jobs reminded us, “Your time is limited, so don’t waste it living someone else’s life.”
Step by step, run by run, lesson by lesson — trusting God through it all.
God bless 🙏

My Studio Day!
Turning off the excess clay and sculpting my “Twin Agate Chinese Wine Bottle” to perfection.
Next up: a special slow-drying technique before it’s ready for the high-temperature firing 🔥

Always cherish my clay days in the studio—
Just Clay & Me Time.
Love it!

Spending time with Dad is never easy, but it's always meaningful.

I visited him recently, and he asked for a water mug—a beer mug, he joked. Then, out of the blue, he said he wanted to use the ceramic mug I made by hand. He also mentioned how much he missed the bowl I had crafted for him years ago.

I still remember that bowl. I had taken it—his handmade bowl—and donated it for a charity fundraising event. We raised funds to support the Singapore Cancer Centre. He never complained, but I knew it meant something to him.

Moments like these remind me how deep the connections are behind the simplest things we create and share.
