In the last 21 years since I founded Ministry of Design, the role of Media has only amplified with a growing multitude of voices, reach and influence; both as an ardent supporter, and at times a gentle critic of the design world. Amongst these voices, Indesign has always been on my shortlist of go-to publications! Their punchiness, obsession for zeitgeist and overwhelmingly uplifting tone resonate with my own design outlook.
Against this backdrop, it was by far one of the most pleasant and joyous surprises when I was approached by their editor (and now my friend) Gillian Serisier to be their guest editor of Indesign’s 25th anniversary edition! I gladly accepted (after falling off my chair and climbing back up) and got to work! The experience turned out to have been mainly pleasure, less work (thank you Gillian).
Exploring the issue theme of “Celebration”, we sat down for conversations with some of my favourite creatives, who shape the world around us, namely Alicia Kirwan, Darren Teoh, Dawn Ng and Eric Tobua! Grateful too that Jan Henderson penned such an insightful article on The Standard Singapore (Thank you Jovian for the amazing photos). Now that the issue is hot off the press, let’s celebrate the wide world of Design; what a truly divine gift it is for all who get to experience it and especially for us, who get to shape it! Thank you so much Indesign, congratulations on your remarkable 25th anniversary, and here’s to another 25 fabulous years!
