Ever noticed the AC Polarity switch on the back of your J3+ or ZPhono and wondered what it does?

It's there to help with one of the most common annoyances in a phono system: hum.

Every power transformer couples a small amount of leakage current into its chassis. When two components' leakage currents are in phase, they add together, and a phono stage - with its very high gain - is where you're most likely to hear it. Flipping the switch reverses the phase of that current in the preamp so it can cancel against the rest of your system instead of adding to it.

It won't fix every hum (cable TV feeds, turntable grounding, and cable routing all need their own remedies) but if you're chasing a persistent hum, trying both positions takes ten seconds and can reduce it in many systems. 💡

A small detail, but the kind that matters in real-world setups.
