When we launched our version of AmiguruMAY, we weren’t quite sure what to expect.

The first few weeks were quiet, but slowly, little friends started arriving at the shop. Then more arrived. And more. By the end of the month, our donation box was overflowing with bears, bunnies, sea creatures, and all sorts of adorable companions lovingly handmade by this community.

Together, you donated over 50 amigurumis to gift to the children under the care of . Any excess amigurumis will also help raise funds for the programmes they run.

To everyone who dug through their yarn scraps, picked up a hook, found the time to make one more little friend, and donated it with an open heart, thank you.

To those who opened up their cupboards, revisited their finished pile, and chose to part with amigurumis that had been lovingly made and treasured, thank you too. We know that isn’t always easy.

And to everyone who supported, shared, encouraged, and helped spread the word, thank you for being part of this.

A special thank you to the team at Extraordinary People for welcoming us and our idea and for the meaningful work you do every day in supporting children with special needs and their families.

This project began because May is traditionally a month for making amigurumis. Thanks to all of you, it became a month of kindness, generosity, and community too. ♥️

What a beautiful reminder that a little yarn, a little creativity, and a lot of heart can go a very long way.

One of the most common questions travelling knitters ask: “Can I bring my knitting needles onboard?”

A few weeks ago, we asked our community to share their experiences, and the results were fascinating.

One thing many people discovered is that it often isn’t the airline that matters, it’s the airport or country you’re departing from. What was allowed in one place may not be allowed in another, regardless of the flight carrier you’re taking.

Some crafters shared that they travel with wooden or bamboo needles to reduce the chances of issues. Interestingly, I’ve successfully travelled with metal needles many times, yet have had wooden needles confiscated before.

The list in this carousel isn’t an official guide, just a collection of real experiences generously shared by fellow makers. As with all things airport security, rules and interpretations can change, and the final decision always rests with the officers on duty.

If you’ve travelled with knitting or crochet tools before, we’d love to hear from you.

Which airports have you successfully flown from with your needles? ♥️ And have you ever had them confiscated?

Let’s build a helpful resource for travelling makers together.

When I wasn’t at the International Retailers Meeting, I was doing what any yarn shop owner would do... visiting yarn shops 😆🧶

Over six days, I made my way through Aalborg, Tversted, Randers and Aarhus, squeezing in visits to seven beautiful yarn shops along the way.

Each one was different. Some were cozy and intimate, others were bright and full of colour. Some made me want to cast on immediately, while others had me dreaming about future projects all the way back to Singapore.

What I love most about visiting local yarn shops when I travel is seeing how each one reflects its community. Different yarns, different displays, different conversations, yet somehow they all feel familiar.

And yes... many of the little treasures that found their way into our Danish blind bags were discovered on this yarn shop adventure 🇩🇰✨

If you’ve visited Denmark before, which yarn shop is your favourite? And if not, which one from this reel would have been your first stop?

Freshly served: Isager Mulberry Silk 🍽️

We knew it was going to be soft…but we didn’t expect this level of softness. 😱😱

This beautiful lace-weight silk has such a smooth, lush feel in the hands that we genuinely felt it deserved to be presented like a fancy dessert 😌

While it can be used on its own, Isager Mulberry Silk truly shines when held together with other yarns, adding a subtle sheen, beautiful drape, and that little touch of luxury that quietly transforms a project.

Think:
✨ a soft glow to rustic wool
✨ extra drape for garments
✨ smoother texture against the skin
✨ richer depth when paired with mohair or alpaca

It’s the kind of yarn that doesn’t scream for attention, but somehow makes everything around it better.

And honestly?
We may never look at silk yarn the same way again. 🤭🤭

Some Sundays are for errands.
This one’s for slowing down a little. 🧶☕️

Lyrical Threads returns this Sunday, 24 May, 2–6pm, our monthly gathering where we bring our WIPs, settle around the table, unwind, chat, laugh a little too loudly sometimes 😅 and simply enjoy making together.

But this month feels a little extra special…
Because tucked into the luggage all the way from Denmark… are handdyed yarns we brought back specially for the shop 👀
And those joining us for Lyrical Threads will get first dips before they officially hit the shelves. 🤭🤭🤭

So bring your knitting, crochet, embroidery, or whatever your hands are currently obsessed with lately.
Because good company awaits! 🥰

See you Sunday? ♥️

We’ve been quietly waiting for this one for a while…

Introducing to Yarning Hearts, a brand known for thoughtfully developed natural yarns with beautiful textures and fibres.

These are the three bases we’re especially excited about:

• Cumbria
• Suave
• Arctic Pearl

Each one feels completely different in the hands… airy, soft, light, and somehow both delicate and luxurious at the same time.

Definitely one of those yarns you need to experience in person 😅 so you gotta come to the store to feel thsem!

Which one are you most curious about? 🤭
