One of our neighbours, Amber Vet Clinic, recently ordered our signature dogs & cats flower stand for the grand opening of Willow Veterinary Clinic.

Some people asked us, “But aren’t they competitors?”

Maybe.

But perhaps that’s not the most important thing.

Running a small business is already challenging enough. We believe there’s room to compete with excellence while still choosing generosity, respect and friendship.

At Wood Flower Cottage, we’ve experienced this ourselves with our neighbouring florist. We’ve shared deliveries, flowers, advice and many conversations over the years.

Success doesn’t become smaller when someone else succeeds.

Sometimes the most beautiful thing isn’t the flowers.

Hospitality begins long before the meal is served.

One question I’ve always had...

What do you bring when someone invites you to their home?

I never quite like showing up empty-handed.

One of our regular customers has a tradition I’ve come to admire. Before every lunch or dinner invitation, he sends flowers to the host—not because there’s a special occasion, but simply to say,

“Thank you for opening your home to us.”

I think that’s a beautiful gesture.

This birthday hamper wasn’t built around indulgence—it was built around care. Every snack was chosen to fit a cardiologist’s recommendations, and every detail was lovingly considered.

Finished with a handwritten “Daddy” card from the grandchildren.

The CJ Hendry Flower Market sparked plenty of discussion online.

Some left disappointed.
Some loved it.
Some couldn’t understand why anyone would queue for a faux flower.

As a florist, I walked away with a different perspective.

The flowers weren’t really the point.

The experience was.

Art has a way of bringing people together — sometimes beautifully, sometimes chaotically, but always in conversation.

I’m grateful Singapore got the opportunity to host an installation like this, and I hope we see more experiences that make art accessible to everyone.
