In this day and age, one can buy stuff online locally and overseas for their homes. But what are the things that you should buy locally. And what could you consider importing from overseas?

This post discusses the pros and cons for you to consider when planning your home makeover.

For me, my standpoint is buy locally for things that you cannot do without, import things that you like but won't miss it too much if they're gone.

I once serviced a homeowner who, against my advice. Bought his appliances from their respective home countries as he was able to get better prices, think buying LG from Korea. Once those things arrived, everything wasn't in english, interfaces and manuals. He had to spend extra time and effort figuring out the settings with Google translate.

While the story above seems like a small hassle, the stress adds up when you want to move in smoothly and get your life in order asap.

So do read up and text me if y'all have additional queries! 😉

Got some queries from yall since the last post, and one stood out as it was quite the story.

Dude's electrician was tossing him so many electrical jargons that he got confused, thus today's post will be about electrical jargons you wanna know.

What I've touched on is what was commonly used, so feel free to ask me if y'all got tossed with something new!

Have a great long weekend everybody! 😁

We were engaged to do some work for a condo unit where the developer had already provided most of the carpentry, thus we just added this additional pantry together with our proposed lighting, false ceiling, and paint work to tie in the existing built-ins to create a cohesive space.

During the handover, our client was curious as to why we were able to achieve some details of the carpentry that the developer's carpentry couldn't. We did explain to them then, but that's a story for another post ;)

Renders and completed photos of a residential penthouse project around openness, practicality, and everyday comfort.

Instead of overloading the space with excessive features, the focus was placed on clean geometry, natural light, and maintaining a sense of spaciousness throughout the house.

From the double volume living area to the bedrooms, every decision was made to create a home that feels calm, functional, and easy to live in over time.

These completed photos were taken during the homeowners' spring cleaning efforts before CNY, capturing the space in the midst of daily living.

Renders for a landed property along East Coast.

I was engaged to provide design and construction coordination services for their new home. Working together with their Fengshui master, we found a balance between modernity and geomancy.

Not every home needs to exude luxury, sometimes it just needs to be what it always has: a home.

Clean geometry, warm tones, and practical planning came together to shape this home into something meant for daily living.

Evening people! Last week I shared why technical drawings matter, so here are some examples and how they're used.

Most problems on site don't start with workmanship.
They start with unclear instructions.

So technical drawings keep everyone aligned - from where things go, to how they're built.

When things are clear, the job flows smoothly.
And when things flow smoothly, the project stays on schedule.

If you've got any questions about technical drawings, I'm just a DM or WA away 😉

Have a great Labour Day long weekend!

Most homeowners only see the nice renders, not the technical drawings behind the renovation.

But these drawings are what guides everything on site.

They align different trades like carpentry, electrical, and plumbing together. Communicate dimensions, and ensure the design is carried through properly.

It's not about how nice a drawing looks, it's about how clearly it tells people what needs to be built.

Next week, I'll share an example of our technical drawings and their uses 😁👏🏻

Over the past few projects, I've shared how design is carried through ex*****on, how consistency applied across different scales, and how every project comes with its own set of challenges.

A common question that follows is - should you engage an ID, or work directly with contractors?

The answer isn't about which is better, as we all have our pros and cons.

It comes down to how involved you want to be, how comfortable you are managing decisions, and how you want your renovation process to run.

Both approaches can work, the key is choosing the one that aligns with how you want your home to come together.

Across the past few projects, I've shared how design is carried from concept to reality, and how the same thinking applies across different scales.

In this home, the challenge wasn't just in the design. But bringing together different elements into a cohesive whole.

From coordinating between subcons to aligning details on site, the process required constant adjustments to ensure everything came together as intended.

Because in practice, no two projects are ever the same. Each comes with its own set of constraints, preferences, and moving parts.

The role of an interior designer goes beyond design - it's about making decisions along the way, aligning different pieces, and carrying the intent through to completion.

Different homes, different challenges.
Carried through by the same disciplined thinking we had for all our projects 😁💪🏻

Previously, I shared how a design translates from render to reality. In this home, the space and scope are smaller - but the same thinking still applies.

A clear layout, intentional material choices, and fittings that support the daily needs of a bachelor's first pad.

Not every home needs a full makeover or a bold design. Sometimes, getting the fundamentals right makes the greatest difference.

Because regardless of scale, the goal remains the same - to carry the design through as accurately as possible, while adapting to onsite conditions.

Smaller space, same discipline 💪🏻
