About last Friday: Nothing brings a team together quite like durian season. 😋

After wrapping up the work week, we traded roller blinds and curtain fabrics for the King of Fruits. 👑

Great conversations, plenty of laughter, and a few “Is Red Prawn, Black Thorn or Mao Shan Wang better?” debates later... we’d call it a Friday well spent!

Spanning 300,000 sq ft across 10 levels, the workplace was designed with flexibility, comfort, and functionality in mind - and we're honoured to have contributed our customised window furnishing solutions at this tech hub.

✨ Roller blinds installed throughout all 10 levels to reduce glare, heat, and UV exposure.
✨ Motorised acoustic curtains at the town hall provide privacy and improved sound absorption for a more comfortable environment.
✨ Our largest motorised U-shaped curtain tracks in this project extend beyond 15 metres, tailored for large-scale commercial spaces.

A team that plays together stays together!

We went on a Beijing adventure – scaling new heights as we encouraged each other while climbing The Great Wall of China, mesmerised by the spellbinding sights of nature, visited the Temple of Heaven and stuffed ourselves silly with hearty Beijing specialty dishes!

It was a fun-filled time together as we shared jokes and stories with one another outside of work 🥳

Inside one of Singapore’s most advanced smart manufacturing environments, every design layer is engineered for performance - including the shading strategy 💫

For our project at Hyundai Motor Group Innovation Center Singapore (HMGICS), The Shades Lab specified and integrated close to 100 motorised Roller Blinds across workplace, collaboration and customer experience zones. This automated layer of smart window shading supports intelligent daylight control, glare reduction and occupant comfort within a future-ready environment powered by AI, robotics and innovation. 💡

One of the key architectural challenges involved 8-metre double-volume glazed facades, where custom motorised Roller Blinds were required to preserve clean sightlines while delivering reliable performance at scale.

Beyond comfort and aesthetics, our shades system also integrates with the building’s smoke control and life-safety systems, enabling automatic blind retraction in the event of fire - reinforcing how automated shading contributes to the wider smart building ecosystem 🏢
