If you haven’t heard, we’re majoring in TEXTURES this Mothers’ Day.

I love inviting people to touch the flowers — I find that most people are hesitant to do so, convinced that they’re gonna damage the flowers with their handling. (That can happen, of course, I’ve had a friend crush the Amaryllis’ hollow stem because he was too eager).

But I love seeing people’ look of surprise when they make contact. The look of a flower can sometimes belie the way they feel to the touch.

Since boyhood, orange flavored anything would be the last one I’ll pick out of the pack — Yakult, gummy bears, cough syrup (though I’ll admit the raspberry flavor one is almost as gross).
Something about the color makes me turn cold — it reminds me of that overly optimistic and persistently chirpy coworker that has me convinced he’s harboring some deep, dark secret . Surely no one can be so full of positivity all the time???
Or maybe it’s just me.
