🇸🇮 Na današnji dan, pred petimi leti, se je bivši Royal Marine in ustanovitelj NVO Nowzad v Kabulu vkrcal, skupaj z več kot 150. psi in mačkami, na letalo, ki jih je popeljalo v Taškent. Po več tednih pogajanj mu je končno uspelo zapustiti Afganistan, ki je bil že spet pod kontrolo Talibanov. Preostala ekipa Nowzada z družinami se je zaradi zamud in postopne napetosti zadnjih dneh evakuacij iz letališča v Kabulu odločila za prečkanje meje s Pakistanom. Knjiga iz prve roke opisuje kaotično in neorganizirano evakuacijo iz Kabula v avgustu 2021 in tudi medijski linč, ki ga je doživel avtor ob povratku v rodno Veliko Britanijo.
🇬🇧 On this day five years ago, the former Royal Marine and founder of the NGO Nowzad boarded a plane in Kabul, together with more than 150 dogs and cats. After several weeks of negotiations, he finally managed to leave Afghanistan, which was once again under Taliban control. The rest of the Nowzad team, along with their families, decided to cross the ground border withPakistan due to delays and mounting tensions during the final days of the evacuations from Kabul airport. This first-hand account describes the chaotic and disorganised evacuation from Kabul in August 2021, as well as the media witch-hunt the author faced upon his return to his native Britain.
🇮🇹 Il 28 agosto di cinque anni fa, l’ex Royal Marine e fondatore dell’ONG Nowzad si è imbarcato su un aereo a Kabul, insieme a più di 150 cani e gatti. Dopo diverse settimane di trattative, è finalmente riuscito a lasciare l’Afghanistan, che era tornato sotto il controllo dei talebani. Il resto del team di Nowzad, insieme alle proprie famiglie, decise di attraversare il confine terrestre con il Pakistan a causa dei ritardi e delle crescenti tensioni durante gli ultimi giorni delle evacuazioni dall’aeroporto di Kabul. Questo racconto descrive l’evacuazione caotica e disorganizzata da Kabul nell’agosto 2021, nonché la caccia alle streghe mediatica che l’autore ha dovuto affrontare al suo ritorno nella nativa Gran Bretagna.

🇸🇮 Tokrat dve knjigi o protipartizanskih bojih na območju nekdanje Jugoslavije in Italije. Pier Paolo Battistelli je pri Ospreyu izdal študijo o protipartizanskih bojih v Jugoslaviji med leti 1941 in 1944. Delo je opremljeno z velikim številom fotografij, zemljevidi in barvnimi ilustracijami. V njem je tudi pregleden seznam enot, ki so sodelovale v bojih. Drugo knjiga je pred nekaj leti izšla pri založbi Schiffer Military, Rolf Michaelis je objavil spomine radio operaterja Wilfrieda Sonnenthalsa, ki je vojno preživel v SS-Karstwehr bataljonu. Njegova enota je bila bazirana v Gradišču ob Soči, bojevala pa se je tako proti slovenskim, kot tudi italijanskim partizanom. Avtor je spominom dodal tudi kratko zgodovino 24. 🇬🇧 This time, two books on anti-partisan operations in the former Yugoslavia and Italy. Pier Paolo Battistelli has published, with Osprey, a study on anti-partisan fighting in Yugoslavia between 1941 and 1944. The book features a large number of photos, maps and colour illustrations. It also contains a comprehensive list of the units that took part in the war. The second book was published a few years ago by Schiffer Military. Rolf Michaelis collected the memoirs of the radio operator Wilfried Sonnenthal, who spent the war in the SS-Karstwehr battalion. His unit was based in Gradisca d'Isozno and fought against Slovenian and Italian partisans. The author has also included a brief history of the 24th SS Waffen-Gebirgs-Division ‘Karstjäger’.
