On this day 3 months ago I moved into my new in Bratislava🤍

The first time I saw it I fell in love with the original wood floors from 1957. It was completely empty, the Kitchen and the Bathroom were already finished (not exactly in a way I like it but for now it’s ok).

The first things I wanted to change was all the lights fixtures, the dark grey doors and the metal window shades… of course in a budget friendly way.

So I gave away the old doors, bought simple white ones with black door handles, painted the door frames white and the result is a visually bigger space and smooth flow throughout the apartment.

For now I kept the 20 years old windows, but to make them warmer and cozier I replaced the original and boring metal blinds with wood shades.

To change the was an essential, without a doubt this is one of the most important design elements of a home to create different moods, to watch TV, read a book or for conversations. I personally use only the “small lights” in the evenings, the chandeliers and the pendant lights have mostly just decorative purposes.

The model of the apartment was ready way before the contract was signed and it was super easy to furnish and decorate the place this way. It’s very important to me to have a well organized home where I can find everything I need, planning ahead saved me a lot of valuable time.

If I can give you only one advice, make a plan, try different options, visualize what you want and what you like.

Just another example why less is more…

or let’s say: Why do you need to hire an when you have a nice , but you’re still not satisfied with the whole thing or it’s not exactly what you dreamed of…

Sometimes a is not putting stuff in a room, but reduces it. Working with the things the client already owns can be challenging, but there is no that cannot look nicer with a little help.

What did I do here?
- removed the clutter - children like to have their personal items displayed in their , but it doesn’t mean they have to be everywhere.
- removed the harsh colors - the vivid pinks I replaced with pastels.
- added luxurious fabrics - velvet and silk looks inviting even on a child’s bed.
- decorated - put some baskets here and there, replaced a picture on the wall and choose a simple table lamp with white lampshade to soften the space a little bit.
