Techaumporn Panich Ratchaburi
This project is a renovation of the unused Techaumporn Panich showroom, a leading motorcycle dealership in the Ratchaburi-Nakhon Pathom region. The design is tailored to accommodate the organization's ongoing expansion while embracing modern workstyles. The original building featured a two-part layout. The front section serves as the motorcycle exhibition space, whereas the rear section, formerly a storage area, has been repurposed into a two-story office. To achieve this, the entire spatial layout was reconfigured, along with extensive modifications to the structural framework, mechanical and electrical systems, and the placement of openings to align with the newly defined functions.
To solve the problem of a dark and gloomy space in the middle of the old building, we removed part of the second floor to create a central double-height space. This bright, open area acts as the heart of the building, connecting everything together. It links the front showroom directly to the back office, making it easy to wheel motorcycles inside for display. It also visually connects the upstairs workspaces and dining area with the ground-floor reception and meeting rooms.
Natural light is drawn into the central reception hall through the front showroom via a folded, perforated stainless steel wall, which is a design feature within the showroom zone. Beyond directing daylight from the front into the central core, this interior façade also serves as a visual screen, providing a degree of privacy for the rear office from the showroom traffic.
The overall design concept employs an Industrial aesthetic. A palette of light grey combined with materials such as bare cement plaster and stainless steel yields a texture that retains its rawness while remaining distinctly modern. The decision to expose the building's structural elements and M&E systems is not only for aesthetic reasons, but also for maximizing floor-to-ceiling height in each space. Moreover, a combination of stretch ceiling lighting and concealed cove lighting creates a contemporary ambiance of the office areas.
For the exterior architecture, the primary façade was reimagined. The new façade design introduces a sense of movement through rhythmically folded materials with gradually increasing upward intervals. This design approach creates visual depth, ensuring the building stands out as a striking landmark clearly visible from the main street. Additionally, the rear of the building, formerly a parking lot, was transformed into a recreational garden for employees. Existing trees were carefully integrated into the new design. This green space not only acts as a buffer zone between the parking area and the building, but also provides a serene view for the first-floor conference room.
