จั๋นแปดกลีบ ลายมงคลของชาวล้านนา

“จั๋น” หรือ “ดอกจันทร์” เป็นลวดลายมงคลที่อยู่ในงานศิลปะและหัตถกรรมของล้านนามาอย่างยาวนาน รูปทรงของดอกที่แผ่ออกเป็นแปดกลีบ สื่อถึง ความอุดมสมบูรณ์ ความเจริญรุ่งเรือง และสิริมงคลที่แผ่ไปในทุกทิศทาง เปรียบเหมือนความปรารถนาให้ชีวิตพบเจอแต่สิ่งดี ๆ ไม่ว่าจะก้าวเดินไปในทิศทางไหน

ลายจั๋นแปดกลีบยังผูกพันกับความศรัทธาในพระพุทธศาสนาของชาวล้านนา เป็นลวดลายที่ใช้สื่อถึง พุทธบูชา การสร้างบุญ และความเป็นสิริมงคล จึงไม่ได้ถูกสร้างขึ้นเพื่อตกแต่งให้สวยงามเพียงอย่างเดียว แต่ยังแฝงไว้ด้วยความเชื่อและคำอวยพรของผู้คนในอดีต

Dok Jan The Auspicious Eight-Petal Flower of Lanna

“Dok Jan” or "The Eight-Petal Flower" is an auspicious motif that has long been part of Lanna art and craftsmanship. With its eight petals spreading outward in perfect balance, the motif symbolizes abundance, prosperity, and good fortune extending in every direction a heartfelt wish for a life filled with happiness and blessings, wherever the journey may lead.

The Dok Jan motif is also deeply connected to the Buddhist beliefs of the Lanna people. It represents devotion to the Buddha, merit-making, and auspicious blessings. More than a decorative pattern, Dok Jan carries the faith, beliefs, and well wishes passed down through generations.

ก่อนจะเดินทางมาเป็นแบรนด์ เราเริ่มจากคำถามหนึ่ง...

ระหว่างการเดินทางไปยังชุมชนต่าง ๆ เราเห็นภาพที่เกิดขึ้นซ้ำแล้วซ้ำเล่า งานหัตถกรรมที่เต็มไปด้วยคุณค่าของภูมิปัญญา ใช้เวลาสร้างสรรค์ และสืบทอดกันมาหลายชั่วอายุคน กลับต้องแข่งขันกันด้วยการลดราคา ทั้งที่เบื้องหลังของงานหนึ่งชิ้น มีทั้งทักษะ เวลา และชีวิตของผู้คน

เราจึงตั้งคำถามกับตัวเองว่า
ทำไมงานที่สะท้อนตัวตนและวัฒนธรรมของชุมชน จึงถูกวัดคุณค่าด้วยราคาเพียงอย่างเดียว คำถามนั้น กลายเป็นจุดเริ่มต้นของ De Quarr

As we traveled from one community to another, we kept seeing the same story unfold. Handcrafted pieces - shaped by generations of wisdom, countless hours of dedication, and the lives of skilled artisans - were forced to compete by lowering their prices. ในการทอผ้ากะเหรี่ยง ร่างกายของช่างทอเป็นส่วนหนึ่งของเครื่องมือ ผู้ทอใช้เอวควบคุมความตึง ใช้มือจัดเรียงเส้นด้าย และใช้จังหวะที่สม่ำเสมอสร้างเนื้อผ้าให้แน่นและเรียบ

ความงามของผืนผ้าจึงไม่ได้เกิดขึ้นเพียงจากลวดลาย แต่เกิดจากความชำนาญ ความอดทน และองค์ความรู้ที่ได้รับการถ่ายทอดจากรุ่นสู่รุ่น

เบื้องหลังงานฝีมือหนึ่งชิ้น
อาจมีเรื่องราวของ “แม่” คนหนึ่งอยู่ในนั้น

แม่ที่เรียนรู้การทอผ้าจากคนรุ่นก่อน
แม่ที่ยังคงสานเส้นสายด้วยวิธีที่คุ้นเคยมาทั้งชีวิต
แม่ที่ใช้สองมือสร้างงาน สร้างรายได้ และดูแลครอบครัว
และแม่ที่กำลังส่งต่อความรู้เหล่านั้นให้กับคนรุ่นต่อไป
