GAIA&GINO GAIA&GINO is re-born in 2020 just as the world is getting ready for a new beginning. They aim to bring us together, celebrate together and share together.

Now is the time of stillness, slowness, being in the present and doing less. We were inspired by the galaxies in the universe while designing and creating the 2020 collection. Just as the galaxies are separate from each other but shine together, this collection brings light into our homes and makes us feel good. As Rumi says “A candle does not lose its light by lighting up another one.”

Those were the days.. A great honor and privilege to be able to collaborate with the legendary designer Andree Putman for the Lucky Collection!! Andree visited Istanbul and was inspired by the clove motif on the walls of the Topkapi Palace.. Lucky Bowls’ forms are informed by the domes of the mosques.. albeit upside down!

We are really surprised and also honored (!) that our Morphescape dinner plates are exactly the same as Ikea’s new Gustaf Westman collection.

Actually Morphescape is designed in 2003 by Karim Rashid for us and launched in 2004 and one of our iconic collections. The most difficult part in production was to achieve the sharpness in the edges in porcelain which obviously could not be achieved by Ikea.

The good news is Morphescape will be re-introduced in a surprising and new material very soon.. Fans please watch this space!!

Did you know we worked with a woman artisan to bring out the Fungi Lamp. Doganberk and Iffet worked together, samples after samples, the real shape came out.. We owe a lot for her patience.

Both the materiality and the form of the lamp are informed by the amazing nature's most iconic and quirky forms, setting a wonderland once lit.
