That room you keep rearranging. The one you keep buying things for. The one that’s almost there…but never quite feels finished. Maybe it’s time to rescue it.

Or maybe nothing is necessarily wrong with your room. You’re simply ready for a change, you’ve recently moved, your needs have changed, or you want to improve your home one room at a time without taking on a major renovation.

That’s what Rescue My Room is designed for.

This is professional interior design within a focused, single-room scope. We identify what isn’t working, establish a clear design direction, and help bring the room together through space planning, furnishings, finishes, sourcing, coordination and styling.

One room. A fresh perspective. A space that finally feels right.

For spaces up to 400 sq. ft.
In-person — Northern Virginia
Virtual — Trinidad & Tobago

*Bookings and project inquiries are accepted through our website only.

A little reintroduction feels right.

I’m Ria Mc Alpin, Founder and Principal Designer of RCM Design Group, WELL AP, and LEED Green Associate.

My journey in design started in Trinidad & Tobago, and today it continues between the Caribbean and Northern Virginia. Along the way, my perspective on what makes a space good has changed quite a bit.

I’ve become increasingly interested in the built environment and the role it plays in our everyday well-being. We spend so much of our lives inside buildings, yet we don’t always think about what those spaces are giving back to us.

That has become a big part of how I approach design.

I want to create spaces people genuinely want to be in, spaces that give us some peace of mind, support healthier living, reflect the people using them, and are designed to serve them well for years to come.

There will always be room for beautiful things (I am an interior designer, after all), but for me, the conversation has become much bigger than that.

This is the direction I’m taking RCM Design Group, and I’m excited to finally share more of it.

Unique spaces call for thoughtful solutions.

This corporate bathroom, designed for an insurance company, came with an interesting challenge: working within an unconventional curved footprint. Rather than fighting the architecture, the design embraces it, using the curve to shape the flow of the space while balancing warmth, function and a polished corporate aesthetic.

Because sometimes the awkward part of the floor plan is exactly what makes the final design interesting.

Designed for the way we live.
