有時候早餐其實很簡單。
一顆蛋,幾樣切碎的蔬菜,再抓一把堅果。

顏色多一點,看起來就有精神。

這種炸的甜麵包,
本來就是要吃那個空心感。

外皮炸得酥酥的,
裡面中空,抹著一圈甜餡,
咬下去先是脆,後面才是甜味慢慢出來。

紅豆比較厚一點,味道直接,
芋頭那款就淡一點,帶點綿綿的香氣。
不是那種塞滿爆餡的路線,
而是簡單、老派,吃的是口感。

有時候這種路邊買的小東西,
也不是多精緻,
但熱熱的拿在手上,邊走邊吃,
就很有那種以前的感覺。

This kind of deep-fried sweet bun

那時候在新加坡,有一天早上點了這份印度煎餅配拉茶。
煎餅煎得很薄很脆,邊緣帶一點焦香,光是用手撕開就很有感覺。
旁邊幾碟醬料和熱熱的咖哩,看起來不起眼,拌著吃卻很有層次。

拉茶上面那層泡泡也很經典,喝起來甜甜的,茶味不算重,
但就是那種很順口、很有南洋日常感的味道。

有些早餐不是精緻型,
卻會讓人記得那個早上、那張桌子,
還有第一口熱騰騰入口時的滿足感。

Back then in Singapore, I ordered this Indian-style breakfast one morning — crispy dosa with a cup of teh tarik.
The crepe was thin and beautifully crisp, with lightly toasted edges, the kind of texture you could feel the moment you tore into it.
The small bowls of chutney and warm curry looked simple, but once you dipped and mixed them together, the flavors came alive in layers.

And that frothy teh tarik on the side felt just as classic.

整餐像是在不同味道之間慢慢散步。

有些料理不是靠濃烈取勝,
而是靠層次讓人記住。
吃完不會覺得負擔重,
卻會把那個味道留在腦子裡很久。

This meal had a slower rhythm to it.
Not the kind that rushes you from the first bite,
but the kind that makes you want to pause, look, and eat slowly.

From the lightly charred rice dumplings,
to the grilled meat with a gentle smoky aroma,
to the sashimi served neatly over ice,
none of it felt loud or showy,
yet every dish carried its own quiet detail.

The warm dishes had their own depth,

那時候第一次吃印度餐。
飯直接放在一大片葉子上,
沒有盤子,看起來有點新鮮,也有點不習慣。

咖哩很多種,
一點一點拌著飯吃,味道很重,也很香。

最後的甜點是真的甜。
甜到有點誇張的那種甜。
但吃完那一刻,還是會覺得挺有意思。

有些食物不一定天天想吃,
但第一次的記憶會記很久。

It was my first time trying Indian food back then.
The rice was served on a large banana leaf,
no plate at all.
It felt a little unfamiliar at first—
new, interesting, and slightly out of my comfort zone.

There were several kinds of curry,
meant to be mixed with the rice bit by bit.
The flavors were bold, rich with spices,
intense, but deeply aromatic.

And the dessert at the end was truly sweet.
The kind of sweetness that almost feels exaggerated.
Yet in that moment after finishing it,
the whole experience somehow felt quite memorable.

Some foods aren’t things you’d crave every day,
but the first time you try them
is a memory that stays with you for a long time.
