本日は、HOゲージモジュールレイアウトの線路改修作業を進めました。

今回のポイントは、もともとカーブポイントを使用して構成していた複線の合流部分を、単線の合流構造へ変更する作業です。HOゲージ 30インチ半径のカーブレールと Shinohara 製カーブポイントを組み合わせながら、実際に線路を仮置きし、位置関係を確認しながら調整を行いました。

Shinohara のポイントは、昔から本格的な鉄道模型レイアウトを製作するモデラーに高く評価されてきた製品です。特にカーブポイント、長い番手のポイント、特殊分岐、クロッシングなど、駅構内、機関区、ヤード、複雑な線路配置を作るうえで非常に魅力的な製品でした。

道床付きレールとは異なり、Shinohara のようなフレキシブルレール系の線路は、見た目が自然で実感的な線路配置を作りやすい反面、施工には高い精度が求められます。線路中心、カーブ半径、ポイントの角度、レールジョイントの位置、給電区間、フログ給電、線路の固定方法など、すべてが走行安定性に影響します。

特にカーブポイントは、通常の直線ポイントよりも調整が難しい部分があります。車両が通過する際、車輪のバックゲージ、台車の首振り、車両の軸距、レールの接続精度などが影響するため、実際に車両を通しながら確認することが重要です。

今回、複線のカーブポイント構成を単線合流へ変更している理由は、単に線路配置を変えるためだけではありません。今後、このモジュールを外部運転会や展示イベントに持ち出すことを考えると、できるだけ設営しやすく、調整しやすく、トラブルの少ない構造にしておく必要があります。

固定式レイアウトであれば、一度きちんと施工すればその状態を長く維持できます。しかしモジュールレイアウトの場合は、運搬、設営、撤収を繰り返します。そのたびに線路の高さ、接続部、電気配線、ポイント制御、モジュール間の位置合わせを確認しなければなりません。

そのため、線路構成が複雑すぎると、運転前の準備だけで大きな負担になります。今回のように複線構成を単線合流へ整理することで、接続部の自由度が上がり、設営時間を短縮でき、外部運転にも対応しやすい構造になります。

また、Shinohara のような精密なポイントには、SmartSwitch のようなスローアクション式ポイント制御システムが非常によく合います。

手動操作ももちろん可能ですが、モジュールレイアウトでポイント数が増えてくると、操作位置が分散し、配線も複雑になりがちです。SmartSwitch を使用すれば、複数のポイントを制御基板にまとめ、スイッチ、操作パネル、または DCC アクセサリーデコーダーを通して制御することができます。

特に、カーブポイントや大型レイアウト用のポイントは、単に素早く切り替えるだけではなく、実感的にゆっくり動作させることで、より鉄道らしい雰囲気を演出できます。SmartSwitch は RC サーボモーターを使用したスロー動作制御のため、ポイントのトングレールが自然に動き、見た目にも非常にリアルです。

さらに AP022 Servo Motor Link を使用すれば、サーボモーターをレイアウト下部やポイント脇に設置し、実物の転轍機に近い雰囲気でポイントを動かすことも可能です。これは単なる電気制御ではなく、レイアウト全体の表現力を高めるためのシステムでもあります。

今回の動画で見ていただきたいのは、単なる線路改修の作業ではありません。HOゲージのモジュールレイアウトを外へ持ち出し、安定して運転し、さらに多くの方に見てもらうためには、線路設計、ポイント選定、給電方法、制御システムを一体で考える必要があるという点です。

良い線路配置とは、見た目が美しいだけでは不十分です。安定して走行できること、設営が簡単であること、メンテナンスしやすいこと、そして何度も外部イベントで使用できることが重要です。

ANE MODEL が SmartSwitch を継続して紹介している理由も、まさにそこにあります。SmartSwitch は単なるポイント制御基板ではなく、複雑なレイアウトやモジュール運転を、より簡単に、より安定して、より楽しくするための制御プラットフォームです。

Shinohara、PECO、KATO、ENDO など、さまざまなメーカーのポイントに対して、機械的にトングレールを動かすことができれば、SmartSwitch を応用できる可能性があります。HO、N、HOe、On30 など、スケールを問わず、レイアウトの目的に合わせた使い方ができます。

鉄道模型は、車両を購入して線路の上を走らせるだけではありません。線路設計、ポイント制御、運転方法を工夫することで、レイアウト全体のリアルさと楽しさは大きく広がります。

今回のカーブポイント改修も、そのための一つの実験であり、今後の外部運転と市場展開に向けた大切な準備作業です。

LC Series 2.0 – Key Control System Enhancements

In the LC Series 2.0 update, our primary focus has been a complete refinement of motion control logic.

The goal is not just to make models run, but to achieve smooth, realistic, and predictable operation—closer to real railway behavior.

Below is a breakdown of the key CV improvements:

■ 1. CV2, CV5, CV6 Optimization (Speed Curve Control)

CV2 (Start Voltage), CV5 (Top Speed), and CV6 (Mid Speed)
are the fundamental parameters for speed control in DCC systems.

In LC 2.0, we redesigned the interaction between these values to achieve:

More linear and predictable speed curves
Improved control in low-to-mid speed ranges
Better compatibility with different motor types
Reduced sudden speed jumps and instability

This improvement is especially noticeable in switching operations and precise station stopping.

■ 2. CV3, CV4, and CV63 (F7 Brake Function)

CV3 (Acceleration) and CV4 (Deceleration) simulate train inertia.

In LC 2.0, we refined their calculation model and further enhanced:

👉 CV63 (Brake function mapped to F7)

Key characteristics:

CV3 / CV4 → control natural acceleration and deceleration
CV63 → provides an independent braking mechanism
Activated via F7 for immediate response

This separation allows:

Smooth and realistic driving behavior
Controlled and responsive braking when needed
A more authentic operational experience
■ 3. CV10 Back-EMF Enhancement (Low-Speed Stability)

Back-EMF is critical for stable low-speed performance.

In LC 2.0, CV10 has been completely rebuilt to provide:

Strong and stable operation at very low speeds
Improved resistance to load changes (gradients, rolling resistance)
Reduced jerking and vibration

As a result, locomotives can:

Run steadily at extremely low speeds
Maintain consistent motion without fluctuation
Perform precise switching and display operations

This is one of the most significant improvements in this update.

■ 4. CV19 Consist Control (Multiple Unit Operation)

CV19 is used for consist (MU) operation, enabling multiple locomotives to run together.

In LC 2.0, we adopted a clear and NMRA-compliant configuration:

Values 1–127 → Forward direction
Values 128–255 → Reverse direction

Benefits include:

Intuitive setup and easier configuration
Quick formation of multi-unit consists
Support for mixed-direction locomotive configurations

This greatly improves operational efficiency for long trains and exhibition layouts.

The page has been a bit quiet lately — simply because we haven’t been running ads.
Still, we want to keep sharing content that actually helps modelers get more out of their layouts.

In this video, we show how the ANE MODEL LC2xx series decoders perform in different HO scale models.
Beyond the basics — headlight control and motor speed tuning — the LC2xx decoders can also drive additional lighting functions and create more realistic operating behavior.

For example, the HXD3B (HO) has an optional interior lighting setup. By wiring the decoder’s F1 and F2 function outputs to the correct points, you can control the interior lights digitally via DCC — and even go further with logic such as:

interior light ON/OFF (and effect changes if needed)

automatic shut-off after departure

customized behavior using function outputs + CV programming

Our philosophy is simple: the model is just the platform.
The real experience comes from how it runs, how it responds, and how those lighting behaviors feel during operation. Specs are useful — but nothing beats seeing it in motion and experiencing it on your own layout.

Just finished installing the DL001C interior lighting kit in my HO-scale double-decker AMTRAK coach, and the result is absolutely stunning! Due to the tint of the window glass, the light emits a warm white tone, which surprisingly adds a cozy and realistic nighttime ambiance to the cabin.

The double-decker design itself is already captivating, but with the added lighting, the layers and details become even more pronounced. Each car feels like a tiny, self-contained world—perfect for both layout scenes and standalone display!
