African Artifacts are not the bounty of foreign museums. They are our heritage and our culture lives on through Creation.
That is why we continue to create.
Even though there is little money to make.
Even though this industry is polluted with exploitation where the people who make these beautiful crafts are often left in last place.
Still, we strive.
In a way, to create is to remember.
And we must remember.
For our story shall not be hidden anymore. And our children must grow up knowing and seeing who they are.
In the video, our artisan Mandundu explains the meanings that these beautiful pieces from Tanzania carry. Known locally as Vinyago, these artifacts are as old as our generations.
