Tanzania has completed the construction of the Magufuli Bridge, the longest bridge in East Africa, at the cost of $300 million. The 3.2-kilometer bridge is named after Tanzania's former president, John Magufuli and was constructed by a Chinese firm. Authorities claim it will reduce travel time from 2 hours to just 4 minutes and help boost trade with Uganda, Rwanda and Burundi. The bridge was financed entirely by the Tanzanian government and is among the 10 longest bridges in Africa. It will be inaugurated by President Samia Suluhu Hassan before the end of the year.
