Black Culture Candles

Black Culture Candles Make Space for Joy, Culture and Connection. Take a Scent Journey through the moments that connect us. Our craft is guided by shared memories and experiences.

Custom-scented candles made with coconut-apricot wax and crackling wood wicks, poured in etched glass for a clean burn and soft, ambient glow. Some scents are more than fragrance, they're vessels for joy, memory, culture, and connection. At the intersection of heritage and luxury home fragrance, Black Culture Candles creates artisan, hand-etched candles designed to honor the stories we hold close. Each scent is an invitation to slow down and recognize yourself in a moment. From our sustainable vegan wax and etched glass, to the rhythmic crackle of wood wicks, we prioritize beauty, depth, and the quiet authority of a story well-told. This is a scent journey through joy, culture and connection. This is a journey home. Experience the collection: BlackCultureCandles.com

Five years ago, Black Culture Candles® began with a conversation between me and my daughter about the way scent, emotion and memory are all intertwined, and how shared experiences connect us.

Since then, this journey has taken me from winning my first pitch competition just one month after launching to hearing so many beautiful stories as I guided people through the Scent Journey.

Memories of grandmothers and gardens, Saturday cleaning days, the way music moves us, Saturday nights spent with the people we care for, the family that love and nurture, the importance of rest and self-care and creating a home filled with joy.

Those conversations have reminded me again and again why this work matters so much.

To every customer who has lit a Black Culture Candles® candle, shared a memory, returned to see us at an event, given one as a gift or welcomed the Scent Journey into your home: thank you.

Thank you to my family and friends for believing in the vision, to my mentors for sharing their wisdom, and to every program that challenged me, guided me and helped me grow.

Five years in, I’m proud of what we’ve built, and deeply grateful for everyone who helped build it with me.

And the journey isn’t finished. A new Scent Journey is already in the works.

Here’s to more Joy, Culture and Connection.

There’s something different about finding a candle that just works for you in your space.

When the scent becomes part of the room.
When it becomes something other people notice when they walk through the door.

A customer recently shared:
“After getting a few of these amazing candles, I’m hooked for life!! Every time someone comes in my home they rave about how good it smells.”

That’s what I want a Scent Journey to be; not something you experience once, but a fragrance that becomes a part of your space. Something that you know brings joy and light.

This month’s featured scent, Cleaning Day, opens with cucumber and melon, lifts with eucalyptus and lemon, then settles into warm amber and santal.

The scent of a well cared for home.

Saturday mornings used to mean one thing: the music came on, the windows went up, and everybody knew what was about to happen.

I hated Cleaning Day then.

Now, I understand the satisfaction of it.
The fresh air. The clear space. The quiet pride of looking around your home when everything feels cared for.

Cleaning Day was inspired by that reset.

Crisp eucalyptus, cucumber, and melon create a fragrance that feels bright, refreshing, and clean, while amber and santal keep it warm and grounded.

The scent for a well cared for home.

What was playing in your house on Saturday mornings?

When I started making candles, I paid as much attention to how they burned as to how they smelled.

Black Love is made with shimmering vegan coconut-apricot wax, and when properly cared for, burns slowly and cleanly.

I use a wood tube wick because it does more than add a gentle crackle. Its shape helps the wax melt more evenly, which reduces tunneling and leaves less wax behind.

Then there is the etched glass. The design is etched directly into the vessel. When the candle is lit, the flame shines through the etching, giving it a soft, ambient glow.

These details shape the entire Scent Journey experience: the inspired scent, the way it burns, the ambient light, and the gentle crackle.

I’ll be at Art on the Green in Hudson on August 29 and 30 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

If you’re there, stop by and take a Scent Journey through Joy, Culture and Connection.

I have some exciting news.

I’ve been accepted into the Fall 2026 cohort of Goldman Sachs One Million Black Women: Black in Business.

Black Culture Candles has grown so much since 2021. What began with a need to make candles that didn’t trigger my asthma has become a Scent Journey through Joy, Culture and Connection.

Over the next 12 weeks, I’ll be taking a close look at what’s working, what needs to be strengthened, and what’ll help the brand continue to grow.

To everyone who has purchased a candle, visited me at a show, shared the brand with someone, or simply cheered me on; thank you. You’re part of this story, too.

I’m looking forward to bringing what I learn back to Black Culture Candles and seeing where it takes me next.
