Just finished these two chairs for our neighbors at Just A Dad From Akron, and the whole set got a full refresh.

We reupholstered both chairs in this bold patterned fabric, carefully lined up the pattern across the seats and backs, and also refinished the frames in a clean black satin finish to tie everything together.

Small details make a big difference, and this one came together exactly the way it should.

Big thank-you to Just A Dad From Akron for trusting another local Akron business with the work.

Before & After — same chairs, completely different look.

These two chairs were still solid and worth keeping, so we gave them a full update instead of replacing them. We stripped the old upholstery, added new foam where needed, cleaned up the frames, and rebuilt everything with a fresh combination of fabrics.

The plaid body with the patterned cushions gives them a completely different personality while still keeping the original shape and character of the chairs.

This is why we love restoration work — good furniture doesn’t have to be thrown away just because the fabric is dated.

This is more than a fabric change — this is a proper restoration.

We completely stripped this chair and ottoman down, replaced the old foam with brand-new cushioning, cleaned and refreshed the original wood, and rebuilt the upholstery from the inside out. The goal was to keep the character of the piece while giving it a cleaner, brighter, more timeless look.

That’s the difference between covering furniture and actually restoring it.

This one had a surprise hiding underneath.

The customer had this chair upholstered in the past, and once we opened it up, we found the newer fabric had simply been installed right over the old upholstery. That’s not how we work.

We stripped the chair all the way down, removed the old layers, repaired what needed attention, added brand-new foam throughout, and rebuilt it properly. With a strong pattern like this, we also took the extra time to match and center the design as cleanly as possible across the chair.

For us, good upholstery is not just about how it looks when it leaves the shop. It’s about doing the work properly underneath and keeping the customer informed throughout the entire process.

This chair needed more than new fabric — it needed real restoration.

We repaired and tightened the chair, cleaned and refreshed the original wood, added brand-new foam, and rebuilt the upholstery from the frame out. With a fabric like this, the pattern matching matters just as much as the installation, so we took the extra time to line everything up cleanly across the back, seat, arms, and front.

That’s the difference between simply recovering a chair and actually restoring it properly.

We had the opportunity to help out the City of Stow Fire Department by refreshing three of their gym seat pads, and we were happy to take care of this one for them.

It’s a small project, but it means a lot to us to be able to give something back to the people who serve our community every day.

A big thank-you to the men and women of the Stow Fire Department for everything you do.

A big thank-you to The University of Akron for trusting N&M Furniture Home Design with this project.

We updated 24 pieces of seating, taking care of the repairs, upholstery, and finishing work needed to bring everything back to a clean, professional standard — and we completed the full project in under two weeks.

That turnaround only matters when the quality is there, and that’s where our team takes pride: clean lines, consistent upholstery, solid construction, and attention to the details from the first piece to the last.

We also want to give a shout-out to C.F. Stinson for the fabric used on this project. Great material makes a difference, especially on furniture that’s going to see daily use.

We appreciate The University of Akron for giving a local business the opportunity to show what we can deliver.

A clean update can completely change a dining set.

These chairs got fresh new upholstery in a warm orange fabric, new padding where needed, and a clean fit that works beautifully with the original wood. We kept the character of the set while giving it a much more updated look.

Simple job, but the details still matter — smooth seats, clean corners, and a consistent finish across every chair.
